And I'll give another BOS to the jangly tune from Wilco -- I don't know this one.

Box Full of Letters...years before they (briefly) became the most overrated band in the universe with "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot."

Yay, a Weezer song from the blue album that isn't Buddy Holly.  Gets a BOS2.

" I don't wanna do your sleepwalk-dance any more" -- WTF does that even mean?

Not that I'm a fan of that song either, but it would seem like he's so depressed over her that it's affecting his subconscious and he's doing things like sleepwalking.

LOL @ Train in Vain after Connie Chung.  This coming a week after we get "introduced" to her in 1993.  Annalisa must have been keeping tabs.  :P

HM to Annie Lennox, though she does better on that album such as her cover of the Blue Nile's "The Downtown Lights."

BOS to Live.

LOL @ the Shrink-a-dinks.  I used to love those things...however if I was introduced to them any older then they probably would have weirded me out.  I tried looking for them about 10 years ago but they must have been discontinued... :(

Not recognizing this droning, monotonous thing. Hope it's song #10, tho'.

wow, shray informs me it's DM!  Live'n'learn  -- but a perfect example of what I said yesterday about how they got more popular as they got more boring

I don't think that was one of their more popular songs though (or at least I hope it wasn't...it certainly wasn't one of their better ones  :P)

LOL @ "The Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove."  Have not heard it, but it sounds like something that would be on one of Starbucks's Hear Music compilations before they started releasing a high proportion of garbage (i.e. Antigone Rising), so BOS2 to that.

And BOS3 to Tim Finn.

OMG - BOS to The Flaming Lips!!!  Hits 106 had (and still does, as far as I know) "The Top 9 at 9" which I used to listen to every day (and kept records of, haha.)  For the longest time #1 on it was "Whiney Whiney" by Willi One-Blood, and I hated that song with a passion, so I kept on voting for "She Don't Use Jelly", which I didn't like that much either (esp. because incorrect grammar in the title irrirates me) but it looked like it was the contender most likely to knock WOB out of #1.  It did.  I loved that song ever since.

I was hoping for 1998, but I'll take this.  Looks like today's set is another trip down Hits 106 memory lane so far... Lenny Kravitz, the Pumpkins, the Flaming Lips.  At first I was afraid that she was going to do a dinosaur set...  :P

Stream of Consciousness / Re: New Music!

Does KFOG play new music anymore?  :-\

Checking their playlist, they have under 30 "current" songs and that includes songs that aren't really current anymore i.e. "Strange Overtones," "Come On Get Higher," "I Will Possess Your Heart," "You Found Me." (And why are they hanging onto that one?  The Fray has had 2 singles since that they haven't touched!)

And some of the songs they have added recently they added after they were no longer new (I think the only truly 'new' song they added recently was "Fugitive" by David Gray).  They added Gomez and the Airborne Toxic Event in what, May?  They played "Sometime Around Midnight" on the new music hour back in September!!!

Awhile back one Thursday morning I heard Kelly Ransford play "Old White Lincoln" by the Gaslight Anthem and gush about how it was perfect on KFOG. (Which it was.) I never heard it again except in the sideshow or new music hours.

Even the new music hour has gotten stale.  They're playing songs they played 6 months ago too.  The station is becoming unlistenable except during their speciality programming...and I used to listen to it almost 24/7.

What gives?  I heard their PD (or is it MD) got the boot a few months ago and they don't have one now...could this be why?

Is "Blue Monday" a bustout?  It doesn't seem like it would be, but I'm looking at mshray's archives since 1999 and the only New Order song he's played is True Faith  :o

BOS4 to the Motels! :)

sorry... WOS here. This one's not a fave around these parts, mainly because Dave used to play it in summer sets, even tho' it's not terribly summery (despite the title).

I got your back, radical!  ;)

LOL, Thanks! (And so true about the shopping carts at Ross comment... ;))

VHM to Thomas Dolby.  I saw him in '06 at his first concert in 14 years but he didn't play my favorite, I Love You Goodbye!  >:(

BOS to Echo & the Bunnymen.  Not a mediocre song in the bunch so far!

I saw him in NYC  in 88 or 89.  I remember he did a backflip w the help of his guitarist.  good show.

Ooh I'd LOVE to see him do that!  In 06 he looked kind of frail...
