Hurry, hurry, hurry to plus one IE's requests.

I gave a plus one to Janet Jackson!

I'll just mention that The Replacements (as much as I like them), have become somewhat of an LN.  Better than the Foo Fighters, though!

I was unconnected last nite but my usuals for 1987 have been ignored lo these many months so it doesn't really matter.

Interesting, tho', that the only 2 requests I've gotten played in the last 3 or 4 months have been fairly off-the-wall pop requests (Eminem and Pink).

ETA: I'm sticking with '78 on 2NG. If y'all give this set rave reviews I can always catch it tonite.

this one has grown on me over the years, despite trying SO hard to paint an epic picture of middle America.  but hey, I guess much (most?) of John Mellonhead's stuff does that.

Woo woo!

I'm thinking rarity, if not quite a bustout. We do need to hear "Lights Out" sometime.

indeed, it's an uber-trina at this point (lemme guess: requested by SRW?). AL did play "You've Got the Look" once. I've given up asking for "Starfish & Coffee" or "Housequake".

I will give an HM to Broooooce, though, is it really necessary to include him in nearly every 10@10?

See TP, FF, INXS, etc....

AL must be taking a page from Little Steven, who always puts in a Bruce song in his Underground Garage show.

Not really loving this Bowie song.  <gasp!>

I liked the instrumentation, but the vocals didn't grab me right away.  ...nevertheless how welcome is it when we CONSTANTLY hear things like INXS?

It occurs to me that an interesting twist for a 10@10 would be "10 great title tracks from one great year."  A 10@10 with nothing but title tracks, like Prince and Peter Wolf in this set.  We could call it a Robin Trower set, as, except for Bridge of Sighs, the only really interesting track on any RT album is going to be the title track ("Long Misty Days", "In City Dreams", "For Earth Below", etc.).

Just a random thought...  8)

Someone on FB said "I love her haunting voice" and I couldn't tell if they meant AL or Michael Stipe. Oh, snap!

And while we're making suggestions (I like Rod's above) I was thinking that since we've been denied a Niners Super Bowl Set for next Friday, maybe a  "NY vs Boston" set -- 5 songs for each city,  either songs that mention the towns or bands from each city or some combo. Just a random thought.

I really liked today's set overall.  I think AL's choice of clips really helped set the mood for me.  Albert Brooks did a fine job in Broadcast News.  A well-written character and good acting.

I've always like him, and recently I've been (re)discovering some of the work he did for the first season of SNL.  He was tapped to do about a film each week, in fact, and was intended to be a big part of what they were doing there: make fun of TV.  In the fourth show he didn't have a film, and in the opening credits say "No Film By Albert Brooks" -- heheh.

and if you (or anyone here) has never seen his first full-length feature, Real Life (1979), a satire of cinema-verite TV (specifically "American Family" which starred the Louds) it is pretty great.  Shame he was snubbed by the Oscars this week for Drive.
