It's the trad "Irish set". Cue up Hothouse Flowers.
-
HHF just got back together for a new album. It's pretty solid & I'm trying to get AMG to let me review it.
-
I bet some Boomtown Rats will make its way into the set. At least I hope.
Woo-hoo! I installed a CD-Rom RW drive in my home computer last night. Cooool. The only thing I haven't tried yet is to make an audio CD from another audio CD. Do I rip the tracks as wavs if I want it to be playable on just a plain old CD player? Or is there another format (my guess being not all CD players play mp3s).
-
I have a meeting at a customer site at 10:00, so I'll miss everything.
But it says here that in true self-serving KFOG style we will here one of the archive tracks from the Thrills that they promo'd last year as "KFOG to iTunes".
How much you wanna bet?
Tomorrow just might be something even more special, but I don't want to get my hopes up too high.
-
I found the set list from 2 years ago, but not last year.

4. Cranberries - Dreams

6. U2 - I Fall Down
7. Rory Gallagher - Tattoo'd Lady (BEST O' SET!!)
8. The Boomtown Rats - Rat Trap

It depends on the software you use to rip/burn. If you burn a CD with the same software you ripped it with it will generally cue you to "make music CD" in which case it will automatically burn .wav files just by draggiing & dropping .mp3 files into the list. This is at least true in Musicmatch & iTunes.

Do you have inside info or is this a hunch? We have been averaging '68/'69 about once every 5-6 weeks...
This as been a decent enough week, which is good since I'll be stuck working Sat morning and I'll be entertained. Gaz, you working Sat too?
-
Thanks for the CD burning info, Mshray! I'll have to play with the program a little more. I've been burning data CDs (docs, jpgs, etc) & I made a test CD of mp3s (my DVD player plays mp3s, too). So far, so good!

And leading things off, a CG-trina (but an entirely appropriate one), Thin Lizzy's Whiskey in the Jar.
-
Woo Hoo! "Whiskey in the Jar-O"! A CG fave makes it to 10@10. Instant BOS.
-
Woo-hoo! I love "Whiskey In the Jar(-O)".
Or is it "...Jar(-Boy)?
-
WOO-HOO JINX!
-
BOS2: WaterBoys!
This set could end right now and I'd be satisfied -- 2 faves in a row.
-
BOS to "Fisherman's Blues." With light in my head and you in my arms, I'll always think of Vesuvios in North Beach when I hear this song. Somewhat saddened, though, that I can't toast the day with the people I want to in the places I want to. Any of you going to the Irish Bank tonight?

P.S. Yes, I expect I'll be woeking Saturday -- we can keep each other virtual company over recaps and decafs.

Yep. Also the first repeat from the list 'shray found from '03--wonder how many more we'll hear.
I'd love to hear It's Not Easy Being Green, but it'd be even better if it were Frank Sinatra's version (Irish, Italian, it's all the same thing. )
-
1000 to 1 odds that Dave plays Macca's "Give Ireland Back to the Irish."
-
WOO-HOO JINX!
do-do that woo-hoo that you do so well!
-
Any of you going to the Irish Bank tonight?
no, i don't think i've ever been there. i'm spending the eve at studio z (http://www.studioz.tv/). not exactly irish. but i'll be dressed like mark geary (http://www.markgeary.com/) who opened for the frames (http://www.theframes.ie) the other night. he was wearing jeans, a blazer, shirt, and tie. and he's irish. so there you go.
hm to cyanide.
-
Not sure who this song is (Sinead maybe?) but the production pegs it as somewhere around 1985 or so. And the guitar sounds just like Jerry Harrison's Rev It Up.
-

DECAF? I'll be mainlining the hard stuff to stay awake -- I haven't worked on Saturday in years.

I'm thoroughly stumped on this one.

I would LOVE to hear that. One of my fave post-Beatle, pre-Wings Macca tunes.

It's the trad "Irish set". Cue up Hothouse Flowers.
As you wish.
-
"Ahlweez ahfter me looky chahrms!"
Repeat #2: HHF

i don't remember the name of it. blood of eden, perhaps? definitely predates mandinka.
-
BOS Dirty Old Town
Now THIS is an Irish tune.
-
definitely predates mandinka.
well, according to launch.com, nothing predates mandinka. so it must be from that album, what with the production sound...
-
Now THIS is an Irish tune.
"i kissed my girl by the factory wall."
-
for what is allegedly a Foghead-chosen set ('cause Fogheads drool), this is turning out quite nicely.
-
Least Necessary of Set: Cranberries. Would have rather he played something lesser known from them, like "Salvation" or "I Shot John Lennon."
-
bos: trouble with a capital t!
-
Well, it's not a repeat song, but do repeat artists count?
Btw, some day I'd love it if Dave did a covers set and played the Faith No More version of Zombie.
(I was talking about the Cranberries here and got distracted before I posted it. Should have read it thru before hitting "submit."
-
So Van eats jelly rolls when he's stoned. No wonder he's so portly.
-

is it less annoying than the original? if so, I'd be all for it.
-

i wouldn't mind being stoned and fishing right now. but he can have the jelly rolls, thanks.
-

it would have to be. everything mike patton turns to gold!! see: faith no more's version of "easy," and mr. bungle.

How could it not?

I thought it was the jelly rolls that get him stoned. Or is he listening to Jelly Roll Morton?
-
Where to from here? Is CG recognizing St. Pat's?
-
bos: trouble with a capital t!
Horslips! (According to the back-sell--I didn't recognize 'em!) Now there's an Irish band I haven't thought of in years. Sort of the Irish Jethro Tull.
-

or is he *as* stoned as jelly roll morton?

I'm pretty sure Dave played 'em in last year's set. Different song, I think.
