A certain amount of poetic justice to this:

Ann Coulter's jaw wired shut?

We can only hope it's not just a rumor.

Said a HuffPo wag: Her jaw broke when she tried to say "President Barack Obama."

Great "special comment" by Olbermann last nite about Cheney's latest fear-mongering (in a nutshell: "you're not Veep anymore, Dick -- GO AWAY!") You can see it on KO's page:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036677/

More interestingly, it seemed to me that KO has turned down the bluster in his delivery a notch or 2 -- a good thing, IMHO. Maybe that Ben Affleck parody of him on SNL had an effect?

Payoff for this story is the kicker:

Bill Maher: "I think they're absolutely following Rush. And that's how clueless that party is. They looked to find the future, and they found radio."

This coulda gone in the Sports thread or the Obama thread, but here goes:

Sports Illustrated's weekly "Pop Culture Grid" feature is where they take 4 athletes and ask them the same 4 or 5 questions -- "My favorite chick flick is _____", etc.  One of this weeks questions was "I'm really sick of hearing about ________". One person said "Paris Hilton". But Braves pitcher James Parr said ... "Barack Obama".  When pressed, he followed up with "I'm not saying he's bad, but he's not the savior. With the economy, he acts like it's America's own fault we're in this."

Er, what? I'm speechless. This is middle america, folks. Be afraid.

Why bother?? They're irrelevant. And I am a person who is probably the most conservative (In other words, I'm far from a liberal) of anyone on this board.

This is bizarre on several levels:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/geoffrey-dunn/palin-pallin-around-with_b_177709.html

I had no idea that Van Susteren and her husband were (a) close to the Palins and (b) Scientologists. Pallin' around with Xenu? Yikes.

Here's Part II on the Van Susteren story.  Seems she likely has just as much conflict of interest covering Hillary as she does covering Palin.

Roger Ebert can't speak any more, but he sure can write. He takes on (and takes down) Bill O'Reilly, brilliantly:

Former KTVU anchor Leslie Griffith is now doing a blog for SFGate, among other things. Worth a read.

I'm impressed -- who knew?  But when did she leave KTVU?

She's a bit verbose, but this is a heavy topic indeed.  I worry a lot lately about Obama, and this doesn't make it any easier.

Two or three years ago--well before Dennis Richmond retired. She just kind of disappeared, no fanfare or anything.

ah, but this week in SI: equal time!  The question was (fill-in-the-blank), "_________  really needs to lose the attitude".  Marvin Williams of the Hawks and James Loney of the Dodgers answered "Dick Cheney" and "Bill O'Reilly", respectively.

Great rant from Bill Maher re: the GOP, as an op-ed in the LA Times:

I'm guessing this may also appear as part of "New Rules" on his show tonight.

Gavin N is returning a $25G donation from Russell Weiner, founder of Rockstar energy drinks -- Russell is the son of Michael Weiner, aka Michael Savage. (yeah, young Russ used daddy's connections in the "herbal supplement" biz to market a crappy-tasting RedBull clone)
