Grr.  An old friend of mine from the college days - the only other guy who was out of the closet on campus - just posted the Facebook update that he and his partner, who have been foster parents for a few years, were just informed by their county that because of their orientation, they will no longer be considered for placement except in last-ditch cases.

Some days, I really despise people.

indeed. Where do they live?

Cincinnati area.  ("Loveland," ironically enough.)

that's like right next to Kentucky, right?  remember the brou-ha-ha over the Piss Christ and Mapplethorpe art stuff in the 80s that happened in Cincy?

I remember driving thru southern Ohio 20 years ago -- I thought I was in the South. You even hear southern-y accents.

Dear gawd! Are these no-nothing, anti-gov't types INSANE? (yeah, rhetorical question)  They hate gov't, they say it's "too big". Then they complain when it doesn't, y'know, HELP them in a crisis. Then they fucking APOLOGIZE to the corporate scumbags who CAUSED the crisis??  Rep. Joe Barton (R) of Texas -- you are a moron.  Seriously, Olbermann said the other nite that all the Dems need to do between now and November is run an endless loop of all the Repugs defending BP,  and I completely agree with him.

In fairness, other Republicans were fuming when he did this.

indeed, and good for them (altho' I suspect they weren't fuming because they disagreed, but because he was stupid enuf to say it in public). When you get slapped down by John "Man -Tan" Boehner, you KNOW you've fucked up. ;)

For those who don't know who Andrew Breitbart is, well... now you will.  He's a right-wing douchebag of the highest order.

Shame on him but shame on the NAACP for being so quick to believe him.

From the "Acorn Doesn't fall far From The Tree" Dept (aka the "Entitled GOP Douchebags" Dept)... is it me or does Ben Quayle (Yes, son of Dan) seem to be trying to channel Don Draper here?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4jiqYcUoOk&feature=player_embedded

At least Jon Hamm can actuallly, y'know, act.

oh my... yes, this kid has absorbed too much TV.  Good call on the attempt at Don Draper gravitas.  We can also throw in the in-your-face outrageous sound bite (such as it is - although "I love Arizona -- I was raised right" seems more non-sequitur than anything).

It's like he's auditioning for a reality TV show called "Who Wants To Be A Tea Party Politician?" or "So You Think You Can Legislate?"

Maybe it's called "Are You Smarter Than Your Father ..  And While We're Asking, Is He Smarter Than A Fifth Grader?"

I can't take credit, but it's pretty good.  Do you think it's too profane to post on facebook?

Sad to say Tony LaRussa and Albert Pujols fell for Glenn Beck's malarkey...

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2010/08/28/national/w091914D50.DTL

Best line of the day, from FB-friend and "Funky 16 Corners" proprietor Larry Grogan:  "The Glenn Beck rally is for people who saw a sign that said 'Free Black People' and thought it meant that they each got one of their own."
