"It is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma; but perhaps there is a key."
ETA: FWIW, the '60s are the only decade we haven't hit yet this week.
-
Gaz ID's '67 on the basis of 4 bass notes of "I'm a Man." BOS1 to Stevie and Spencer et al.

well that was easy: '67.

I was guessing 67 or 68, since it has to be before CTA did it in 69. But I couldn't tell ya for sure.
-
Whee! BOS2 to "Here Comes My Baby." I always forget the artist, though.

Not to mention the disco version (BoysTown Gang, or somesuch).
BOS the Tremoloes, "Here Comes My Baby", a Cat Stevens compo.
-
AL's 3 for 3 in BOS votes from me: love the kick drums and doo-doo's on "R&R Woman."
-
BOS2 "Rock'n'Roll Woman", previewing the BufSprgfld reunion.
-
Sweet. Great year.
-
"And You Just May Be The One"?
-
"And You Just May Be The One"?
Sounds like Michael Nesmith.
-
BOS3 the Lovin' Spoonful and one of their loveliest. Just gorgeous (even if "dawdle" and "toddle" are a bit dicey, rhyme-wise)
-
Looks like my faux request was some 31 years off (I requested "Kind And Generous" for no particular reason on FB).

She appreciated it.

Just may be the one? No, AL, you ARE the one today. Greatest '67 set ever!
-
Lawd! Li'l Stevie was MADE to love her! Yeah, yeah, yeah! BOS4
-
And another Stevie heard from. Very nice set. I liked that Monkees tune.
-

Yup, a Nez-penned tune from the Monkees' Headquarters. I'm stunned to hear it. Definitely an ATBB.
And now, one of my 5 fave Stevie Wonder songs. Both Stevies at their best!

Lawd! Li'l Stevie was MADE to love her! Yaeh, yeah, yeah! BOS4
Gets my BOS vote
-
A trip to Motown. Sweet as I said earlier.
-
BOS5 Marvin'n'Tammy at their Marvin'n'Tammiest. Full props to Ashford & Simpson.
-
A Tammi Terrell doc was to air on one of the obscure cable channels this week; I saw ads for it while channel surfing. Might have been PBS. I don't want to see it - too sad.
-
What could make this even more perfect to close? "Penny Lane"? "Ballad of You & Me & Pooneil"? "A Taste of Honey"? "To Sir With Love"?
-
Oh, Mrs Peel!
uber-BOS6 Brenton Wood's fantabulous "Ooogum Boogum".

Lulu?
-
"Check out the puss-ah, check out the puss-ah"? :o
And the perky Buckinghams make this set a clean sweep. Phenomenal.
-
it's "Kind of a Drag" that this set has to end.
-
I love when Marvin says "Oooh!" at that one point. I'm not trying to be willfully obscure, and it's hard to describe the moment, but I'm sure you know it when you hear it.
HM to English gentlemen and hot babes in bodysuits

Penny Lane BOS2

-
"Check out the puss-ah, check out the puss-ah"? :o
apparently it's "I just say who got the blues say who got the blues"
and here's yer "Penny Lane" -- the rarities version would be a nice touch.
-

You mean, right before "My love is alive/ Down in my heart"? I'm right there with you.

You are a winner good sir!
-
Oh, blessings: BOS11 (!!!) for the second half of the greatest two-sided single ever.
-
well, no "PL" rarity ending but a Fab Four Twin-Spin. No one, I think, is in AL's tree today -- she's in a class by herself.
-
BOS3 Beatles Part Deux. Let me take you down.....
-
And a beautiful ending (?) with the best Byrds-do-Dylan song ever.
-
that
penultimate third fourth? to last song was fun. Lots of monedgreens and NTM
-
and a Byrds extra, ManCub! (funny how "ManCub" has become a totally gay expression since then)
-
that penultimate song was fun. Lots of monedgreens and NTM
are you serious -- you'd never heard "Strawberry Fields" until today?
:o :o :o

Yes all good things must end. This is like a set on Viagra

seriously?
OK, I have to mention this, I had Ray Parker, Jr's The Other Woman going through my head on Monday or Tuesday. Not sure if I caught it on the radio or what, and when 1982 came up and you (and swelligant) requested it vi aFB and AL played it, I thought "there is some force at work here."
it's strange when these things happen, especially when you don't believe in that stuff.

no, I lost count. it was that jumpy soul song. by Brenton Wood?
-
Holy crap -- just switched over to 'LNG and they're playing the *other* version of "Get Together" by the We Five (!)

Tuned in to the replay just in time for the end of R&R Woman, so got to hear You Just May Be the One. Very VERY cool. But I had no recollection that it was so short--was it even 2:00? An all-but-forgotten classic.
And am equally rhapsodic about the Spoonful's Darlin' Be Home Soon. A timeless lovesong if ever there was one.
Y'know, the request thing can be kind of fun, but I think I still prefer the sets AL creates on her own, with no input from the Fogheads (including us).
ETA: Per AMG, You Just May Be the One was 2:00 on the dot. But then, of the 14 original tracks on Headquarters, only one was longer than 2:35.

Annalisa posted on FB that someone asked about the running order for tomorrow's marathon, so she revealed that they'd run in chrono order, that is Monday thru Friday. So if you wanna hear this set again, tune in around 9:30 or so, I'd guess. Might be tough for me. I gotta be someplace at 10 or so, but maybe I can swing it. This one was a shortie (even with 12 songs) so maybe.
