Having nothing to do with the set, but there's an ad for Leonard Cohen's upcoming tour along the right side of the Sound's 10@10 page and he looks positively geriatric.

Yikes, Sunglasses at Night. Are we sure this is better than '87?

... and it pays off with Talking Heads "Once In A LifeTime" (live)

eta: although I never liked the way David Byrne sings the ending of this cut

That's a BOS from me.

"Same as it...ever...was."

BOS #2 live Talking Heads.  I know Mike objects, but to me there is a fraction of live albums that made such an impact that I do remember the songs from the year of the live release at least as well as the original.  And Stop Making Sense was definitely one of them.

Fully agree. I saw that tour twice, and was captivated by the gradually-expanding band, from solo folkie to 10-piece funksters. Byrne sort of copped the latter from P-Funk, but it was quite an eye-opener regardless. The fact that the album was a movie soundtrack (sort of) didn't hurt, as everyone who saw the film got the visual impact to a certain extent.

If Stevie Ray were driving around the Bay Area this morning, I bet he couldn't stand the weather here either.

This is the Bangles?   surprised me to read that.
I always thought Susannah Hoffs did the vocals.

Nice piece of pop!

We awoke to sun here this morning, but it's clouding over now, and showers are promised. Had a hell of a cloudburst last night about 11:30 as we were retiring--must have kept up for half an hour at least, I fell asleep to rain pounding on the roof.

BOS3 to the Bangles.  I'm sure that if I had heard this at the time (Pittsburgh radio took a pass on it), I'd have assumed the "UB40 in your hand" was an album rather than a form.

Yes, I see Mike Powers on the list.  He's pretty much indistinguishable from Webster.  I bet Webbie's having a tough time doing weekends as well as mornings.

Mike has often pined for GDTL, and I have heartily seconded the opinion.

"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today because KFOG keeps playing retread sets from 1987."

BOS # 4 Prince.

BOS4 (!) to R.E.M., "So. Central Rain."  Ah, for the days when Stipe could be a heartbreaker (a mode he's captured this decade only with "Leaving New York").

And it's REM from every quarter this morning. KFOG played Fall On Me a few minutes before 10@10, It's the End of the World As We Know It was the #3 song in their set, and now we're getting So. Central Rain. Buck and the boys are sure racking up the mechanicals today!

ETA: Oh, and Davefish reminded me that KPIG played their cover of Wall of Death shortly before 10, too. Is it someone's birthday today?

Damn, sure wish he'd let Big Bottom roll there. Instead we get Hot For Teacher. Well, it is LA.

Not sure how trail blazing she would be here in her MD role, and I can't recall the texture of the playlists when she was at KFOG, but I do remember that I found her new music Thursday appearances just tolerable.  Like just a notch above Annalisa in the annoying department.

And I heard "Wall of Death" on KPIG.  And commented on Urth's status on Facebook to that effect, whereas his status was "Jim Hoffman is buy the sky and sell the sky..".  So there.

The back announce didn't mention ST, but in proper dinosaur rocker fashion, he did mention that "Coming up, we've got some Pink Floyd , some Doobies and .. oh looks like a little Fat Boy Slim, too."

(50 bonus points for FBS!  That Haley is some MD!)

Good news: they're playing Keller Aud. here, tix on sale this Friday.

Bad news: Not playing the Fillmore, at least according to their website. They're booked at the Paramount in Oakland. Beautiful room, but sonically it's kind of a pit.

2. Joe Jackson - You Can't Get What You Want
3. Corey Hart - Sunglasses at Night
4. Bruce Springsteen - Workin' on the Highway
5. Talking Heads - Once in a Lifetime (live)
6. Stevie Ray Vaughan -  Couldn't Stand the Weather
7. Bangles - Going Down To Liverpool
8. Prince -  Let's Go Crazy (vinyl)
9. R.E.M. - So. Central Rain
10. Van Halen - Hawt for Teacher
