Title: 20 Sept 2007: a "classic" from... 1985
Post by: RGMike on September 20, 2007, 09:41:48 AM
At least I'm assuming it's a classic.

ETA: Dave said "happy Thursday", so maybe he recorded a new one? No Birthday Club, tho'.

And we start with Scritti Katrini. Oy.

it's the Hour of Power (Station). Some like it hot, so far this set is lukewarm.

Back on July 3 we heard "Perfect Way" in the TotHK slot & "Endicott" was tune #8, but this is not that set.  In fact it's a 'new' 'classic'.

Meeting postponed until 11:00, btw.

I missed it, but that was a Db bustout.  I'd've given it a BOS if I'd heard it.

OMFFFFG! Bonzo goes to Bitburg--if this ain't a bustout, I'm a hottentot.

BOS of the week, needless to say.

Can you make those clicking sounds, then?  'Cause we heard this in May of '05.

BOS for sure though.

VHM Jan Hammer -- but we heard this recently too, didn't we? I wish Dave'd play Faltermeyer's  "Axel F" half as much as he plays this one.

Also a year to the day since we heard "Medicine Show"

Don't be fooled by imitations, this is the stuff that I always vote BOS

"We sentence the accused here before us, Tuco Benedito Pacifico Juan Maria Ramirez [known as the Rat] to hang by the neck until dead.  May God have mercy on his soul. Proceed!"

possibly because of this song, but a lot of people erroneously think the line "I don't have to show you any stinking badges" came from The Good, The Bad & The Ugly.

When in fact it comes from....? (2 frink pts)

"Treasure of Sierra Madre"?

And of course, in Weird Al's immortal "UHF", it was parodied as "we don't need no stinking badgers".

ToSM is correct!

I can tolerate Glenn Frey only if this set includes "Sunset Grill".

Proxy of GazWOS: Glenn Frey.  too much hot heat in this set -- too bad Patti Austin's "In the Heat of Heat (Your Heat is So Hot)" isn't from '85.

Did he? I wasn't paying close attention, so didn't notice. I suppose you could get from Mill Valley to Hawthorne St. in 40 minutes, but it'd be close.

But they had the remote equipment set up at Village, he could have just done the back-sell from there.

4.  Ramones - Bonzo Goes to Bitburg (BEST OF SET!!)
5.  Eurythmics - (I Love You Like A) Ball and Chain
6.  Jan Hammer - Miami Vice Theme
7.  Katrina & the Waves - Walking on Sunshine
8.  Big Audio Dynamite - Medicine Show (BEST OF SET!!)
9.  Tom Petty - It Ain't Nothin' to Me

It would of been a good set had it not been the song that you guys use for over played songs on 10 @ 10.

Well, it used to be in EVERY DANG '85 set...  It still makes me smile, though.
