12 March 2015: it's an "encore" from... 1982
« on: March 12, 2015, 07:43:49 AM »
'60s would be nice; '90s more likely.

wrong again: 1982

"Der Kommissar" to start -- at least it's Falco and not ATF.

We'll have things up and running as soon as possible. XO- KFOG

I was wondering about that. Looking forward to hearing the X tune and maybe the Dazz Band, but some of these others, not so much. (Hold Me was a low point in the Big Mac catalog, imo.)
Let's get right to it.

Nice news clip on the Brown/Wilson race.  It has been said by many that Wilson wound up being such an extremely unpopular mayor in San Diego that he decisively (in the literal sense of the word) carried the vote in SD (& that's why Brown lost), because the citizens of SD wanted Wilson to be Washington's problem, not theirs.

Love "Diner". Memorable clip with Daniel Stern and Ellen Barkin.

One of the greatest ensemble casts ever.

ETA:  My favorite line, out of many, is when Tim Daly & Steve Guttenberg spend the night in jail because Kevin Bacon (in his 2nd movie) got them in trouble.  Some really nasty looking guy in the next cell starts hassling them, not knowing that Daly has a real violent streak, and Daly says that if he doesn't stop bothering them, "I'll hit you so hard...I'll kill your whole family!"

One of my very favorite films. Most of the cast members were nobodies when they did that, but that changed soon after.

That Captain Sensible tune gets points for rarity, but I am just as glad it's NOT an FF.  Just dumb. Where was this a hit?

Some totally expendable rock from Sammy Hagar.

it got a smattering of "rock of the '80s" format play in the US, but it was a UK Top 40 hit -- the followup to his #1 cover of "Happy Talk" (yes, the showtune from South Pacific).

I had the luckmisfortune of listening to a Sammy Hagar trifecta today: "There Only One Way To Rock (also 1982 -- The Arrow) and Van Halen's "Why Can't This Be Love" (Redding "Bob").
