Prehistoric Peter Case.

Saw these  guys open for EC at the Greek circa 1982 or so.

wow, you're right.  Who was it that covered WYWM? '60s guy, the record was produced by Mellencamp.  Del Shannon? Mitch Ryder?

Another VHM for me, too.  This peaked at #56*, along with "I Am The Walrus", CDB's "Long-Haired Country Boy", and a song from yesterday's set.  Care to guess which one?

*I have been spending a lot of free time filling out my all-time Top 100 & there seems to be a few chart positions in the 41-100 range that have a whole bunch of entries.

I'll guess the Crash Test Dummies song, since most of the others yesterday charted Top 40 (and the La's peaked at #41, if memory serves).

Ack, you're right--that was my first thought and then something convinced me it was the Plimsouls. Think I was crossing it up with Million Miles Away.  :oops:

Ooh - I love trivia questions like this!  Alas, I don't know this one -- although I think Scandal had two #41 hits preceding "The Warrior" ("Goodbye to You," and I forget the other one).  Gotta be something that was re-released, which would make me think "I Melt With You," except Modern English didn't have any other hits.  ZZ Top had "La Grange" spend 3 weeks at #41, but their top 10s came later, I'm sure.  Got any other hints?

Actually part of my hint will be to clean up a slight innacuracy. Let me rephrase:
What band of this era, which had two of their four Top 10 entries (and another two of their total 13 Top 40 hits) in 1984, also managed to have a song peak at #41 not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES?

I have an additional hint if that doesn't do it.

duran duran or hall and oates? i would think "notorious" for duran duran. but i don't have a clue what the h&o song could be.
