Title: 11 Dec 2012: it's... 1998
Post by: RGMike on December 11, 2012, 10:01:16 AM
Oy: a jingle for Children's Hospital about a kid whose "ears weren't draining". How jolly. And at breakfast time, no less.

and now a 1998 set. Yeesh, sheesh, and I'm outta here.

RR is pulling an AL and playing David Gray WAY too early.

I've liked Fat Boy Slim so far, although I get that it's too overplayed for many. There's still time for a Massive Attack or Public Enemy surprise. I sure hope Semisonic isn't the closer.

I like almost all of these songs but don't need to hear almost any of them.

If Renee can't save late 90s sets, then there's probably no hope for them ever on KFOG.

I'm tempted to record what a late 90s set should sound like & send it to DC.

one of Renee's first 10@10s was a 1998 set -- Oct 4th.

Quote
1. New Radicals - You Get What You Give
(Commercial - Three easy steps to the internet)
2. Cake - Never There
3. Train - Meet Virginia
4. Chris Isaak - Please
(Movie - Something About Mary - Franks and Beans)
5. Barenaked Ladies - One Week
(News: Bill Clinton "Now it is time to move on.")
6. Marcy Playground - Sex and Candy
7. Fastball - The Way
8. Lucinda Williams - Can't Let Go
9. Everlast - What It's Like
10. The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony

Today's was her 2nd visit to '98. And she apparently played "The Way" again.

1. Lenny Kravitz - Fly Away
2. Fastball - The Way
(Movie: You've Got Mail?  Sleepless in Seattle?)
3. David Gray - Please Forgive Me
4. Sheryl Crow - My Favorite Mistake
(Commercial: Crash Bandicoot)
5. Soul Coughing - Circles
6. Goo Goo Dolls - Black Balloon
7. Everlast - What's It's Like
(News: Stone Phillips tells Sonny Bono to watch out for that tree)
8. Fatboy Slim - Praise You
9. Shawn Mullins - Lullaby
10. Semisonic - Closing Time

well, if the best thing you can say is that she only repeated one song from the previous '98 set...

No kidding, although I suppose "Circles" would qualify as the rarity. Is it a bustout?

Possibly -- AL played them once or twice but I was never a fan and so I can't remember which song(s) of theirs she used.
