The magic words are "Twin Pines"?!?
it's a Michigan thang.
Rob's 1980 set was quite good -- Top it, Dave!
-
"Celebration" is certainly a fine TOTHK, especially if you've never been to a wedding in the last 28 years.
BOS English Beat! "Tears of a Ska Clown"!
-
Not surprisingly, some post-election subtext today: Celebrate leads off, then the English Beat's Tears of a Clown follows a clip of Cronkite announcing the Reagan landslide.

Vote no on Katrinas! I love Forbert, but this one's high on that list.
Obama's victory is sort of a mirror image of Reagan's: in '80 we had a Dem administration with a crappy economy and a seemingly endless foreign crisis, and Ronnie came in promising change.

no stream for me today!

Ah, it's the GOOD Cars for a change. The one where Ric Ocasek is not involved.
ETA: Wonder if Dave'll give us something off The River in today's set? I'd love to hear Sherry Darling.

The dead-on-quaaludes tune goes on for good spell, don't it?
It may not be the long version, but it seems like it.
(actually, I like "Althea")

BOS3 Miss Ross, I say to thee!
I've got a photo, an old 110-instamatic print, of a friend presenting Ms Ross with a bouquet of flowers on stage in NYC 1977. Unfortunately he died in his sleep a year ago, age 49, apparently a heart condition.

Geddy's voice makes dogs' heads explode.

yeesh. prog overload -- WOS3 to whateverthef--k this is.

A prog twin-spin! Rush into Genesis, a deep cut from the underappreciated Duke album.

The Genesis is definitely overwrought and ponderous. No value to this one.

thanks for the ID. I think MY head may explode.
-
the Genesis song is "Man Of Our Times"
not the best from that record, but I like the whole album.
-
man, I shoulda voted for the Rush tune!
Now those smelly hippies and their ilk will fill the streets with their pungent brand of celebration:

"Yay! Althea won BOS...!"

that was surely an ATBB, so kudos on that level. But as Casey Kasem said on that famous bootleg tape: "Ponderous, man... f---kin' PONDEROUS!"
-

I'm with you on that--this is the last album of theirs I could listen to all the way through without skipping any songs. You can definitely hear the direction they're going toward the pop-rock of Abacab, but they still had some prog cred at this point.

BOS from me too (but you knew that), and Alicat called me to ask me to vote for Althea for her (again, no surprise).
Not ponderous proggy lyrics on this one, it's another you could salute the Repubs with this morning:
But glittering prizes
And endless compromises
Shatter the illusion of integrity
-

Althea is always welcome. It's the only place to hear it on the radio.
