it probably will be two, Dave threw the 2-count-as-1 rule out the window a while back.

26 reds & a bottle of wine.

A one-time Katrina, but in my book Jim Carroll has lately been de-Katrina-fied.

true, but that doesn't make me dislike it any less.

Has Dave ever played "Les Boys"?  Maybe for Pride?

I'm unfamiliar with this one; can you elaborate?

Meantime, someone undoubtedly familiar with Les Boys, VHM to Jacko.

"wanna see an exhibition?" Sha-mohn!

Dave sez it's 1980 for the second time today -- I'm betting we hear "Switchin to Glide" one more time. And "Rough Boys" too.  And Dave'll be the one to play "Call Me", I'll wager.

I bet you're right.  But hearing "She Talks in Stereo" is enough of a surprise that I'll grant him one Katrina.

What are the odds of Dolly's "9 to 5"?  How about Sheena's "9 to 5"?  I'd be pleased as punch with either.

Dolly odds are very good (it's a Dave fave). But Sheena's from '81

Safe to assume that this'll be a Crowded House year in Dave's house?

Same thought crossed my mind. '87 is due--their debut was out in 86, but did it get any chart action in 87? We just heard 88 and 91 last week, which was when Temple of Low Men and Woodface were released.

'87 is actually when "Don't Dream" and "Something So Strong" ended up being hits. It got great reviews in '86 but it took radio 6 months to catch up. Which is why the album was overlooked by the Grammies, if memory serves.

On WXPK ("The Peak"), in suburban NYC (Westchester/Rockland).

They do stream their programming. Of course 10 in NY is 7 here... so if you're at work REALLY early...

I may check it out Friday, when I usually get to work between 7 & 7:15. But for Gaz, it's local time.

I see they use the "ten great songs from one great year" slogan, too. Wonder what the connection is to KFOG and/or DM if there is one? My first thought was that they could be another Susquehanna station, but their "Peak Music" page says they're owned by Pamal Broadcasting.

Ah, here's the connection: their evening DJ is Paul Marszalek, who according to his bio, was once Operations Manager at KFOG.

I remember Marszalek.  He was in charge in the mid-'90s.  I once emailed him, around the time Paul Simon's Capeman album came out, to inquire why they weren't playing it -- they did, after all, have 5 cuts from Graceland (then a 10-year-old LP) in constant rotation.  I suggested Fogheads might like to hear new Simon, rather than every Hootie clone (this was '97-ish) that came down the pike. He replied that he'd be more inclined to listen to me if my attitude were "less snotty". (!?!)

Speaking of stalking... you (princess) will be interested to know that while you're in NYC you'll have the opportunity to see both Kathleen Turner and Jessica Lange on B'way.  KT is in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (which has gotten great reviews), and JL is in Glass Menagerie (which hasn't).  The half-price ticket booth in Times Square RULES!

Jessica got a big enthusiastic 2-page spread in Newsweek, so the reviews must, at worst, be considered mixed.

I missed that; I saw a pan in EW and The NY Times called it "Bizarre".

More B'way tips: they're doing an all-black On Golden Pond with James Earl Jones, Leslie Uggams and Colin Powell's daughter (!), and the new Neil LaBute play has the great Jeffrey Wright co-starring with Ben Stiller.
