That clinches it - I'm going running instead.  Say hi to FYC for me.

Think I'll avoid too -- rather hear all 6 hours of Saturday's CGSS.

indeed, if anyone wants to join me in '89 avoidance, I'm logged on to the CG player, checking out Saturday's CGSS. The playlist is here:

Think I'll listen anyway, just in case something off-the-wall pops up. The Cure leading off--Fascination Street?

Yep, BOS from me, and now here's my son's namesake, Adrian Belew.

if so, it's a Katrina-in-training (6th time in 4 years). Saving the world from Mecha-Streisand yet again. "Disintegration is the best album ever!"

Digging this peculiar acoustic McMurtry tune.  Can't say I've heard it before.  But then I didn't know him from Adam in 89.

Didn't know you'd named Adrian for Mr. Belew! ;)

This is James McMurtry, yes? It's a Small Town. I think we may have heard this at least once before, not too long ago.

HM for Annie Lennox doing a pretty credible Bryan Ferry imitation.

So it wasn't just me--that's who I thought this was for the first 20 seconds or so of the song!

Yah, even after she started singing I thought it was him.  Then maybe a duet  ;)  But no.

Well, Christina suggested the name, and I thought, "Hey, just like Adrian Belew...okay, I approve!"

The obligatory '89 earthquake clips preceding and following SRV's The House is Rockin', but I don't recognize the song that followed the second one; kind of a by-the-book blues called Let's Rock This Place.

Flabulous Thunderbirds.  Indeed a garden variety blues, but not one of their two biggest hits, so there's that.  WOS for Mick and the boys getting all sensitive.

Almost Hear You Cry is a bustout in 89, but it's appeared twice in 90, so maybe not so much of a bustout after all.

This song reminds me of the Stones concerts at Oakland Stadium a couple weeks after the earthquake. It was my first venture back into the bay area post quake, and you could tell things were still pretty messed up.

I'll save the WOS for unnecessary Clapton, the Stones tune was pretty much the only thing after Tattoo You that I liked by them.

I'm forced to yawn broadly at Mr. Clapton. ::)

This is far from the worst 89 set I've heard, but the Clapton tune is not enhancing that at all. Nor is the Call song (Let the Day Begin) that's following it.

Ugh, WOS2 for the Call.  Crummy set from big yawning to end.

reading the posts I feel like I missed a "classic" that's been rerun more than once. Granted, this month's '89 bustout happened in the Comic Book Set with "Batdance", but sheesh.

Might as well have been a classic...I agree with Mike.

I'd already forgotten about the McMurtry song.  That was the highlight for me, even though it wasn't a very good song.

Well, this is a first--the bonus track is a song that was already played in the set--the Adrian Belew tune. Annalisa sure pulled a boner this time.

And also shows that the Foghead probably wasn't listening to the set--or at least wasn't paying attention.

...plus the intern continues to think that the word 'is' is a preposition (twice) and also can't spell Texaco.

90% of the population gets this wrong.  I winced every time I saw the titles for The Bronx Is Burning.
