Hour 2: These days EJ really *is* so excited to be still standing.

I adore the Hollies, but their remake of "Stop in the Name of Love" is not their finest hour.

BOS2 DeBarge, "All This Love" --swoon!

WOS1 Taco, one of my all-time HFHs.

CC, BOS3 "Tumble 4"!

ELO sounding more like fake ELO than Dave Edmunds did last hour.

Soundalike To A Previous Hit Award: Quarterflash, "Take Me to (Harden My) Heart"

Funny, the Sound didn't play Kajagoogoo on their "gibberish" 10@10 this week.

"Oh baby just you shut your mouse"

"gunter glieben glauben globen" -- which *did* show up in the "gibberish" set

WOS3 Loverboy

"It's no use after-cryin' " -- er, what?

BOS4 Rod's underrated "Baby Jane". Yikes, I never need to hear "Come Dancing" ever again. Wait: Casey just pronounced "Come DANCING" as "CUM-dancing". Oy.

Well, I'll be in NYC this weekend and unable to listen, so I'm not upset at having to miss Aug 4th 1979 on Saturday:

http://www.charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/08-04-79.pdf

or Aug 3rd 1985 on Sunday:

Turns out they offered stations a choice again: either 1970 or 1977. CKRU and CKWS both running '77; so is Magic 98 tonite. Bummer.

Not that this is a bad '77 chart: VHMs Glen Campobell's forgotten "Sunflower"; ditto the BeeGees' live "Edge of the Universe".

BOS Hot Chocolate's great "So You Win Again", a Russ Ballard compo.

More forgotten goodness: Mac MacAnally's "It's a Crazy World" and BJ Thomas' nice remake of "Don't Worry Baby"

eeek: "Margaritaville", one of the LN-iest of LNs. And KC keeps it common-law.

BOS2 Slave with the first incarnation of the electric "Slide"; VHM Kiss with "Christine Sixteen"

BOS3 Elvis' "Way Down" -- this show aired the week before he died.

BOS4 Steven Bishop's still-gorgeous "On & On"

Found a station in Mississippi that's running the 1970 show: WQMA

http://www.ustream.tv/channel/wqma-oldiesradio-1520am-marks-clarksdale-batesville-ms

They're just getting started. #40: the Three Degrees fantabulous "Maybe". Best. Spoken Intro. EVAH! BOS1

VHM Bobby Sherman & "Julie"; BOS2 Ike & Tina with the studio version of "I Wanna Take You Higher". boom-shakka-lakka-lakka!

uber-BOS3 Jr Walker "Do You See My Love For You Growing"; Neil D re-charts with "Solitary Man"

BOS4 Melanie, layin' it down.  BOS5 the Lost Generation's forgotten "The Sly, The Slick, The Wicked (wickedwickedwicked)"

WOS Neighborhood's thoroughly second-rate cover of "Big Yellow Taxi".

BOS6 the post-Diana Supes with the more-relevant-than-ever "Everybody's Got The Right To Love"

VHM BS&T with Ms King's "Heidi the 'Ho", er, I mean "Hi-De-Ho"

always a BOS(7) for Flaming Ember's ever-great "Westbound #9"

VHM CCR; BOS8 PG&E.

Kenny Rogers gets all socially-conscious on yo' ass!  BOS9 "Tell It All, Brotha"!

OMFG: Patty Duke's "Don't Just Stand There" as an extra -- one of the great Lesley Gore imitations of all time.

2 more BOSes before I have to exit: Ronnie Dyson and Robin MacNamara.

'84, Hour 1: BOS Eurythmics "Right By Your Side"

Wow, I'd forgotten about Slade's "My Oh My", the follow-up to "Run Runaway"

eeek: "Almost Para-Para-Paradise"

WOS1 Night Ranger "When You Close Your Eyes" I'd rather close my ears.

BOS2 Jermaine Jackson's forgotten "Dynamite"

Hour 2: Cheezy Treat of the Week, Diana and Julio with "All of You".

Cheezy non-treat: Sergio Mendes' "Alibis".

BOS3 Laura Branigan's "Self-Control", which I overlooked at the time.

"ah ayum da wah-wee-uh!" sez Ms Smyth.

BOS4 Peter Wolf, dancin' in the dark (the song's orig title but Bruce got there first) to the radio of love.

It's mid-'84, so we were gonna hear Huey, one way or the 'nuther.

Just noticed that Ratt's "round and round" and VH's "Pa-na-ma" are are the same 3 notes.

Sergio Mendes' "Alibis"

Now that's one I haven't heard since 84, and probably for good reason.

'76 Hour 1: Miss Ross leads off with the forgotten "One Love in My Lifetime", followed by Queen and the Helen Reddy disco misfire "I Can't Hear You No More" (an old Carole King song)

BOS1 Henry Gross' dee-liteful "Springtime Mama", his follow-up to "Shannon".

WOS1 Aerosmith's "Last Child"

OMG: BOS2 Barry M's backup gurls "Lady Flash" with the Manilow-produced "Street Singin'"

Starbuck get a seaside BJ!  I'm sure Lady Cliff Richard has gotten a few of those.

BOS3 and proxy of Gaz:  Silver's "Wham Bam etc"

Chicago with Leopold "Butters" Stotch's favorite song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahp-AmJFpb8

Smoove! Hour 1 of '87 begins with Smokey's dreamy "One Heartbeat" and LLCoolJ's "I Need Love"

Jellybean's "Who Found Who" is not nearly as interesting as "Sidewalk Talk".

Freddie Jackson says never jam today but "Jam Tonight"

BOS1 Bananarama's "I Heard a Rumor"; VHM Jonathan Butler's "Lies"

BOS2 "Mary's Prayer"

"Deadhead history is made this week!" sez Casey (the Dead's first Top 40 hit). WOS1 "Touch of Grey" sez me.

WOS2 the Outfield. What a worthless generic band.

Hour 2: Fat Boys/Beach Boys. I can never decide if this is great or awful.

VHM Klymaxx, "I'd Still Say Yes"

BOS3 Whitney, "I Wanna Dance With Somebody"

WOS2 Sammy Hagar the horrible; WOS3 Whitesnake.

uber-BOS4 ABC -- "When Smokey Sings" is in the chart the same week that Smokey himself debuted @ #40

Dept of Redundancy Dept: "Living in a Box" by Living in a Box.

I totally didn't remember Robbie Nevil's "What's it To Ya?"

WOS4 Starship quoting Yogi Berra. It's really astounding how many awful singles they released in the '80s.

nice surprise: CKRU is playing the '71 show!  Babs leads off with Ms King's "Where You Lead", followed by Roberta & Donny making it a Carole King twin-spin!

BOS1 Bobby Russell with the best Roger Miller imitation ever.  BOS2 the Isleys covering Mr Stills.

"Maggie May" (whick CKRU played a half lour ago) make its debut -- if only we'd known then how overplayed it would become.  Followed by Al Green's first Top 40 hit. BOS3 "Tired of Being Alone".

OMFG: I haven't heard BJ Thomas' "Mighty Clouds of Joy" in decades, probably. uber-BOS4 and another for the "Jesus Rock" set if AL ever does one.

Ms Baez has a temporary sex-change. And screws up the lyrics to "TNTDODD". It's "Stoneman's cavalry", not "so much cavalry", Joanie.

BOS5 BS&T, goin' down.

Damn, what an amazing first hour this is: BOS6 "Bangla Desh"; uber BOS7 the J-5's fantabulous "Maybe Tomorrow"

VHM Cymarron; BOS8 "Bring the Boys Home".
