This week, That '70s Casey flashes back to June 7th 1975:

http://www.charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/06-07-75.pdf

This first hour has a few of my all-time faves from '75.

Elvis knows how to spell; Tanya Tucker makes the pop chart.

VHM BTO.

Holy cheeses!  Randy Bachman schools Casey (and me) on how to say his last name "BACK-man"  (not BOCK-man).  We get the short version of BTO's Hey You, which is titled Eh You in their native Canada (har har).

uber-uber BOS2 "Misty" -- Ray Stevens' brilliant re-imagining of a Johnny Mathis ballad. One of my favorite cover versions EVAH. Genius.

"eh-eh-eh-EH-va-body talkin' bout da good ol' days"

Hour 2: VHM Carly; BOS3 Tempts; BOS4 Tavares' great forgotten ballad "Remember What I Told You to Forget"

WOS2: Disc-O-Texx's *other* hit.

Yikes: Paul Anka sleeps alone (deservedly) and Roger Whittaker channels Hermingway.

Hour2: WOS2 John Cafferty.

Cheeze for Breakfast: "We Are the World", followed by Casey's hard-hitting expose on "the Rock and Wrestling connection" --> Ms Lauper's "Goonies" theme.

BBs cover papa Chuck; ABBA say "yo' Mama".

BOS1 Keith Carradine's always-lovely "I'm Easy"; VHM the late Vicki Sue Robinson.

Awwww: BOS2 Brotherhood of Man's sweet, forgotten "Save Your Kisses..."

LN: Elvin Bishop.

I don't remember hearing that "#1 Songs of the Past 40 4th of Julys" special Casey just promo-ed. He actually played songs from the '30s & '40s? Wow.

BOS3 Parliament, tearin' da roof off da suckah; BOS4 Cyndi Grecco's Laverne & Shirley theme.

WOS1 Travolta's anemic vocal on "Let her in, she's my beard."

Awwww 2: VHM America's "Today's the Day"; the Fab Four make chart history.

BOS5 the fantabulous Trammps with the great "Where the Happy People Go".

Hour 2: '76 is peak-year for overplayed "Classic Hits", but a few forgotten gems here: Rhythm Heritage's *other* hit, "Baretta's Theme" is one of 'em.

Starbuck get a BJ in a car.

BOS6 Eric Carmen's wonderful "Never Gonna Fall in Love Again"; BOS7 Marvin's "I Want You".

Loved Casey's story about Claudine Clark.

VHM Brass Construction.

June 1983 Hour 1: a sledgehammery period for me. I don't remember this Chris Cross tune at all. But "1999" gets an LN.

eeek: Alabama.

WOS1: The Goat and her throat.

BOS1 Chris DeBurgh's fine, forgotten "Don't Pay the Ferryman"

OMFG: the LDD (featuring Air Supply) was from a guy named Osama. LOL!

BOS2 Seger's "Roll Me Away", which I've come to appreciate from its frequent appearances on The Drive.

Hour 2: please please tell me now... are there more forgotten hits to come? why. yes!

BOS3 Ms Branigan's "Solitaire" (a rare Diane Warren lyric I actually like); BOS4 Crock o'Siegals' "Wishing"

WOS2 Bryan Adams ('tho that clip of his obscure disco record was hilarious); VHM Jim Capaldi's "That's Love"

BOS5 Rod the Mod's underrated "Baby Jane".

VHM Prince

uber-BOS6 DeBarge. HAAAAAY!

I *want* to like the BeeGees' "Woman in You" but sorry, it's one of their rare misfires. From the awful Staying Alive sndtk, iirc.

BOS6 Champaign's *other* hit.

Yikes, Hour 3 begins with 3 uber-LNs: Madness, Dolby, Kinks.

But i'm so excited EJ's still standing, har har.

WOS3 Sergio Mendes: Adult-contempo dreck at its most generic.

http://www.charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/06-23-73.pdf

(a fabulous chart, just for Perry Como alone!)

'73, Hour 1: JB shouts out for Fred! FRED!  Jeannie Pruett sleeps on "Satin Sheets" but she ain't happy.

The "insurmountable" (!) Dells get a hand. Sweet got little willys -- heh.

BOS the mighty 'berries, "Let's Pretend".

Stealers' Wheel are stuck; Alice sez no more Mr Nice.

I hope Perrry Como's A&R guy got a HUGE bonus for hipping him to Don McLean's "And I Love You So" -- a perfect pairing of singer and song. Really lovely. Amazing Sinatra didn't think of doing it first. uber-BOS2

BOS3 the Woofa Toofa Goofa Loofa! Badly edited 45 version notwithstanding.

I liked that reader submitted question: When did the charts feature the most consecutive different weekly number one hits? and how many were there?

in late 64 there were six different number ones in six weeks, Supremes (two diff songs),  Shangri-Las, Lorne Greene (!) Bobby Vinton, and The Beatles were all swapping spots.

November 21    "Baby Love"    The Supremes
November 28    "Leader of the Pack"    The Shangri-Las
December 5    "Ringo"    Lorne Greene
December 12    "Mr. Lonely"    Bobby Vinton
December 19    "Come See About Me"    The Supremes
December 26    "I Feel Fine"    The Beatles

that record would be broken the following year with 7 diff #1s  --and again in '75 with 14!!
