I liked this 1970 chart so much I'm listening to it again on Magic 98.

"Heaven help the boy who won't reach 21
Heaven help the man who gave that boy a gun..."

damn!

'86 Hour 1: Haaaay! it's Nu Shooz's *other* hit!  VHM.

And a VHM to VH too.

Winwood has a semen Freedom overspill. Clean-up in aisle 38!

Everybody (including Frasier Crane) have fun tonite!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4GtOdJtgL8

From spiky Billy Idol to square Huey.

BOS1 Daryl Hall's fab "Dreamtime" -- someday I'll get AL to play it. Someday.

Always a treat when CKRU plays Gino V as an extra. Shakin' behinds like-a DY-no-mite!

Hour 2: WOS1 Triumph, challenging Rush for "Worst Canadian Band EVAH" honors.

BOS2 Re-Ree 'n' Keef, jumpin' 'n' jackin'.

VHM Gloria "Robin Thicke's mom" Loring and Carl "Judas" Anderson -- I often rail against adult-contempo pablum but "Friends & Lovers" is a lovely MOR duet.

WOS2 Lionel Richie, speaking of pablum.

Emotion in motion. A magical potion. Like... calamine lotion?  WOS3 Ric Ocasek.

I totally don't remember Corey Hart's "I Am By Your Side". Understandably.

WOS4 Peter Cetera & Amy Grant "Next Time I Fall for Jeezus". See previous comments re: adult-contempo pablum.

WOS2 Lionel Richie, speaking of pablum.

Just tuned in to this crappy song.....

The following 4 songs get a WOS, too.  Oy, Peter Cetera and Amy Grant.  It's pass the cyanide time!
From bad to worse:  Toto.  Oh, and the opposite of haaay is KOIT.  ;)

Damn, looks like I'm gonna miss Oran Juice Jones & JJ.  Time to hit da beach!

Hour 3: More Huey. And WOS5 Loverboy's "Heaven in Your Eyes", making Journey's "Girl Can't Help It" seem tolerable by comparison.

But BOS3 and proxy-"haaaay" for sg: Oran "Juice" Jones -- you just a squirrel, tryin' to get a NUT!

And BOS4 Cameo. Word! Red leather codpieces for everybody!

ah feel a HUN-gah! BOS5 Eddie & Ronnie.

BOS6 "True Blue", one of my fave Madge 45s.

BJ sings about a matter of trust -- which he and Christie B obviously didn't have.

Just before Hour 1, CKRU plays Ms Ronstadt's "It's So Easy"... which Casey will play in less than an hour. ::)

But instant BOS1 the Carpenters covering Klaatu.  Oh to have made "world contact" with Karen...

A couple forgotten VHMs: ED&JFC, "Gone Too Far" and Leo Sayer, "Thunder in My Heart"

Mr Buffett is drinking rum and eating chum. Or Something. OMG: its the rare censored version that changes "son-of-a-bitches" to "bruises and stitches" (!)

Gonna listen for a while today.......

Yes!  BOS1 The Carpenters - "Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft".  This song is so weird, it's awesome.

Does every Jimmy Buffett song sound like "Margaritaville"?

BOS2 "I Go Crazy".  Yep, it's 1977 alright!

Guilty pleasure alert:  HM Styx "Come Sail Away"!  *ducks from RG*  ETA:  RG likes this too!  Separated at birth?  Quite possibly!

BOS3 "You Make Loving Fun".  There was lots of lovin' within the Fleetwood Mac camp.......

Yes.

JT wants someone to sit on his smiling face. So Simon slips away and Paul Davis goes cray-cray.

Sleep with Seals & Crofts if you dare! Well, sheesh, when you put it like THAT...  VHM "My Fair Share".

Cheeze for breakfast: BOS2 "Come Sail Awaaaaaaaaaay", right before "Surfin' USAyyyyyy" Haaaaaaay!

Linda's back. It's so Weezy!

more dee-liteful cheeze: BOS3 Barry M's "Daybreak". Proxy of Gaz.

VHM Mr Rivers, swayin'.

Yeah, this LP was big at my college radio station. I bailed on them after the follow-up.

Hour 2: isn't it time for a Katrina from the Babys?

VHM Judy Collins' Sondheim serenade -- one of the early examples of a song re-released due to "passive research", which was all the rage at radio stations in the late '70s.

eek: Frampton with the Whitest. Motown. Cover. EVAH!

BOS4 Mr Carmen + Beach Boys backing vox. VHM Dave Mason.

After "Dazz" (disco jazz), Brick follow-up with "Dusic" (dance music). Oddly the 3rd leg of the trilogy, "Dis-cunt" (disco country) flopped. Hrm.

BOS5: Peter Brown gets funky!

I LOVED "Dazz" as a kid!  I had no idea Brick had other songs.  You're joking about the last one, right?
"Dazz" was featured on a K-Tel 8-track tape that my mom bought either at the Woolworth's (now The Big Apple grocery store) or Merrill's on Polk (currently Good Vibrations).  I found this compilation on vinyl at Rasputin's recently...for 50 cents!  Haaay!

Songs include : The Boys Are Back In Town, Magic Man, You Are the Woman, Strange Magic, Nadia's Theme, Kiss and Say Goodbye, Saturday Night, Love Machine, Love Hangover, You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine, Daniel, Just to Be Close to You, One Man Woman, One Woman Man, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, You Are My Starship, The Cisco Kid, All By Myself, Magic, Did You Boogie (With Your Baby), and Dazz.

Hee hee. ;D

Funny, I never thought of Foreigner as being "from New York City".

BOS6 Ms Ronstadt's 2nd appearance. As the umpire said, "that pitch was like a song... it 'blue bayou' "

KC keeps it common-law.

Just remember Firefall loves you... as long as you're willing to be the woman.

extra: Rod the Bod, "Urine My Heart".

Hour 3 begins with BOS7: Rita Coolidge's lovely Boz Scaggs cover. Easily my favorite of hers.

VHM BeeGees.

Surprise BOS8, Chicago, "Baby What a Big Surprise", just 'cause it's one you rarely hear.

Speaking of disco country: Crystal Gayle followed by Donna Summer.

A major BOS from me too.  She de-Fozzied it!

1977 was the year I saw my first films (I was 5) - all featured in this countdown and all the theatres are gone, sadly:  "Star Wars" (at the Coronet), "Saturday Night Fever"(at The Regency) and "The Spy Who Loved Me" (at The Alhambra).
