DAMN! 1970 starts with a pair of BOSes: the Impressions' "Check Out Yo' Mind" and Jr Walker's fab "Do You See My Love For You Growing".  Soul heaven.

Heh: Casey's confused by that Chicago title.  But lawdy: BOS3 the Diana-less Supes, singing about marriage equality 40 years ahead of time.

I liked that: "Twenty-five.. or six to four.. We'll figure it out in the weeks to come." *snort*

Absolute winners so far in this first hour!

more BOSes: "Loveland" and "Sex Machine". VHM the Assembled Multitude. What a sledgehammery summer-of-'70 flashback this hour has been.

OMFG: Kenny Rogers tells it. Amazing lyric. BOS8

If you miss the Westbound #9, you can always hop on the Silver Bird.  VHMs Flaming Ember & Mark Lindsay.

BOS9 Elvis, "The Wonder of You".

BOS10 the late great Mr Dyson. Didn't realize Rado & Ragni wrote "Aquarius" specifically for his voice.

and yet another BOS(11) for Miguel Rios.  I am lost in nostalgia this morning.

VHM Robin McNamara, cantchasee? And I never knew that BJT's "I Just Can't Help Believin'" was a Mann/Weill compo.

Lawd have mercy: the looooooong version of PG&E's "Are You Ready?" gets an uber-BOS12.

Mike, I'm surprised you like the Sly, Slick and Wickedwickedwickedwicked - I think them Persuaders-esque.  That said, heard a lot of great moments in the brief period I was able to spend with the countdown.

Listening to the '80s set now, and damn if Andy Taylor's "Take It Easy" isn't a T. Rex riff with the chorus of "Let Your Love Flow."

And what a voice it was.  Check out his "One Man Band" and his cover of "Just Don't Want to Be Lonely" next time you're surfing YouTube.

Wow, is "Dancing on the Ceiling" a lame, phoned-in song.  I didn't dislike it at the time.  Now I wince.

And you woo-woo-WOO!  BOS to Jeffrey Osborne fortifying his love, just because I haven't thought of this in ages and I'm surprised it charted so high.

Yeah, it is similar -- but nobody ends up in the hospital in this one.  :)

BOS2 to Wham!'s "The Edge of Heaven," which I sang last time I did karaoke, which was in a private room with friends in Boston.  Love this forgotten song.  I thought it was a sure #1 and was flummoxed when it peaked at #10.

Forgot to mention: When "Friends & Lovers" came out, I mondegreened the singer's name as "Glory Alluring."  Sounded like a porn name.

Also: Michael Jackson appears to have ganked the bassline from Gavin Christopher's forgotten "One Step Closer to You" for "The Way You Make Me Feel."

bwahahaha!  Don't know if you remember an '80s dance hit called "Savin' Myself" by Eria Fachin, but for months all the NY deejays made it sound like her name was Area Fashion -- I thought she was a band, like Leisure Process.

Ah LURVES to start my Sunday morning with a man-sized love, honey!  BOS1 Klymaxx.

WOS1 Holly Knight's band Device, "Hangin' on a Heart Attack". Yeesh.

I'd forgotten about Mike & the Mechanics' "Taken In" -- sounds like they listened to Squeeze's "Tempted" a few dozen times.

VHMs HoJo, the Monkees and JCM.

I like DLR but "Yankee Rose" is weak.

WOS2 GTR -- there's a reason this one's forgotten.  Surprised it hasn't shown up on a Drive 1986 10@10.

Nostalgic VHM to Regina, one of the many Madonna clones of the period -- they all had one-word, 3-syllable names, which still amuses me.

Gonna WOS the first 3 songs.  Klymaxx clearly faking it with a Man-Sized Love.  That Device song was unlistenable, and this Mike + The Mechanics song is going nowhere.

BOS1 HoJo, "No One Is To Blame".  Great lyrics.
BOS2 The Monkees, "That Was Then, This Is Now".  Geez, I haven't heard this in ages...still sounds good.
Diamond Dave's Yankee Rose hasn't aged well.  Neither has he.  VHM anyway
"Friends & Lovers".  How do you remove vomit from your keyboard?
Never cared for "Baby Love".  Insipid lyrics and a lame baby sound sample.

JCM sounded good.  BOS to Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork.

Big ol BOS2 to Diamond Dave!

Agree enthusiastically about GTR being crap-ass. I consider myself both a yes and genesis fan, but I cannot recall giving a crap about that one--or even remembering it, for that matter.

This is Regina? Sound ZACKLY like Ms. Ciccone.  She even has that weird throat-y warble when she goes into lower register.

Hour2: WOS3 Billy's ocean of sap, "There'll Be Sad Songs..."

Gaz is right about this Gavin Christopher thing.

AAACK! a sappy LDD featuring Loggins & the Goat. *shudder*

WOS4 the Outfield -- what a worthless f--ing band.  VHM the Fixx's forgotten hit.

WOS5 Journey; WOS6 the Moodies.

I love Lisa Lisa's upbeat stuff but this extra, "All Cried Out" is a really awful bit of ballad songwriting. "Set this place on fire/'cause I'm tired/of your lies"? Sheesh.

Also agree about the Lionel Ritchie; I seem to recall he got the title, realized he could do a video ripping off the old movie routine by Fred Astaire, and at that point it didn't matter how crappy the rest of the song was.  Woo Hoo to the "Woo Woo": BOS2 Jeffrey Osborne.

Can't agree with Gaz about "Edge of Heaven", tho'... Wham's weakest US single, IMHO.  Always a VHM for the Monkeys who blow. Ditto the TSC's "Rumors".

As I prepare to exit, pre-emptive BOSes to the PSBs and the fantabulous Jermaine Stewart.
