Casey's show for January 29-30:

The 70s:

January 27, 1979 (I guess you can call this AT 30) - http://www.charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/01-27-79.pdf

The 80s:

January 28, 1984 - http://www.charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/01-28-84.pdf

Maybe it's time to change how the show is distributed. Instead of 70s and 80s, it should be 3 hour and 4 hour shows. So the 4 hour 70s shows could remain intact.

Agreed -- the first hour usually has the most rarities and is therefore the most interesting part of the show for me.

Sorry we miss out on Nigel Olsson and Rose Royce; but instant BOS Mr Rafferty's "Home & Dry" at #30.

Mr Seger's got tonite; Ms Summer's got her hubby Bruce Sudano to sing with her on "Heaven Knows" -- BOS2. And their daughter is quite pretty:

OMG! sweet Melissa out-Manilows Mr M on "Don't Cry Out Loud". BOS3.

And BOS4 Kenny Rogers -- "The Gambler" is perhaps the apex of '70s country story-songwriting.

OMGWTFLOL-of Set: "Don't Hold Back" by Chanson, a rather forgettable OHW disco number I (understandably) don't remember -- turns out the lead singer is James Jamerson Jr, son of the legendary Motown sideman. (this wasn't on Motown, BTW)

WOS Chicago at the "No-Tell" Mo-tel.

Gotta leave in about a half-hour, so VHMs-in-absentia to Ian Matthews' "Shake it" and Cheryl Lynn's "Got 2 B Real"; uber-BOS5 Ace Frehley's "NYG"

Holy flaming muther of Runt: tuned in the Canuck station early and heard someone named Tom Middleton doing a version of Todd's "It Wouldn't Have Made Any Difference". Sounds not unlike Todd's version or the Hello People cover.

Then they played the Stampeder's version of "Hit the Road Jack", feat Wolfman Jack  -- godawful. Makes "Clap For the Wolfman" seem like Cole Porter.

Huey wants drugs; Irene Cara has a dream; and Quiet Riot (TANC!) bang they heads.  BOS Duran2 with their underappreciated "New Moon On Monday"

WOS1 the Motels' understandably forgotten "Remember the Nights"; WOS2 Stevie Nicks' "Songgoatbird"

Jeffrey Osborne feels just like a schoolboy girl-o. VHM.

BOS2 Real Life's "Send Me an Angel" on its first go-'round

a couple of holdovers from our last '84 visit that I BOSed then: Barry M-meets-MeatLoaf and Debarge find out what time will reveal.

Most peculiar, momma: posthumous John.  and talk about a forgotten hit: Macca's "So Bad", which kind of is, actually.

Wrapped around your finger is a string attached to 99 luftballons.

BOS3 BJ's gorgeous "An Innocent Man"; BOS4 Shannon's delightful "Let the Music Play".

WOS2 --one of the worst singles of the entire decade -- "Curly Shuffle"

And as I head out the door, BOS5  H&O's "Say it Isn't So"

pretty fab stuff in both cases, but esp '72 -- a sledgehammery period for me.  And TANC: this week we heard Seger's "We've Got Tonite" in '79; next week we get the Kenny/Sheena remake in '83.

'72 -- a sledgehammery period for me.

and we begin with Bread's ode to a dead parent, "Everything I Own", which more than sets the mood (more on that later). BOS1; VHM the BeeGees' forgotten "My World".

Brenda Lee is Eager to get "Mellow" wit da Ice Man! VHM.

another VHM to another forgotten hit: the 5-D's "Together, Let's Find Love".  WOS GFR, stompin' they feets again.

BOS3 Ms King's glorious "Sweet Seasons"

The Supes get some joy from his big big floy. It's impossible to measure! BOS4.

Mr Cassidy's having one of those nights. It's OK David -- it happens to everyone.  Better get some Viagra or Marc Bolan will come in and bang her gong.

My love for Beverly Bremers' fab Lesley Gore imitation is well-documented  -- don't say you don't remember. BOS5.

Hour 2 starts with 2 more BOSes: Bobby W's "That's the Way I feel About'cha" and Gladys & the Pips' underappreciated "Make Me The Woman You Go Home To" (which is a lot easier to do now that she's a Mormon)

And here's the first (and least) of our two Coke commer- er, "I'd Like To Teach the World To Sing"s, by the hastily-assembled Hillside Singers. The Assembled Cash-in-itude?

Percy can't get his fill of that flaming whore. Or horde. Or something. VHM.

BOS8 Charley Pride; WOS2 Robert John -- one of the least necessary remakes EVAH.

VHM the superior "Teach the World To Sing" by the New Seekers. BOS9 the J-5 -- they'lll even let me drive they Caddy!

BOS10 Carly and her ketchup; VHM Dennis Coffey.

C'mon sing-a-boom-boom-boom: Merrill Osmond's screaming like Linda Ronstadt on a bender.

Always a BOS fo' da "Clean-Up Woman" -- VHM Little Beaver on gee-tar.

Really a fabulous chart, but it climaxes with an edited slice of "Pie" from Don McClain at #1

"I don't need an excuse/To be the woman in me" -- Surprised this Donna Summer hit isn't a drag queen classic.

Early BOSes in this first hour: JJ's "Breaking Us in 2"; Ms Ronstadt's forgotten cover of Billy Joe Royal's "I Knew You When", and H&O's "One On One".

WOS1: Journey; WOS2 LoverSagaBoy with "Turn Me On The Loose". VHM Ray Parker's forgotten "Bad Boy": "spank me, whup me -- break out the leather, baby!"  :o

WOS3 the pseudo-MeatLoaf of "What About Me".  (Soy Loaf?)

I totally don't remember this Juice Newton "Heart of the Night".

Mr LeBon says your juice is like wine. Er, ewww. TMI, Simon.  BOS4 a Boy and his Culture Club.

Final BOS before I exit: BJ in "Allentown".

Just noticed that charismusicgroup.com sell some of the AT40 shows on their website for 50 bucks or best offer.

Belatedly noting: Nice commentary this week.  I was a bit too occupied to post when listening.
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”
