This 1980 set was entertaining for its you'd-never-hear-this-anywhere-else-ishness, but nothing really inspired a BOS vote.  The top 8 were unchanged from the previous week, and the top 6 (I think) were holding steady for 3-4 weeks.  Yeesh.

This doesn't beat April 2, 1983. The top 11 were unchanged. 6 other songs in the top 20 were unchanged and no song dropped out of the top 20 from the previous week.

Gah!  How stale.  (Today's charts are even more frustrating in that way, in that decent-size hits now linger on the charts for 25-40 weeks.)
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”

Chico was uncharacteristically sloppy this a.m.: they started at #35 and had some messy edits at the breaks.  Lobo at #40 will be NTM when I hear it.

Right now they're playing that Keith Hampshire cover of "First Cut is the Deepest". Wacky Canucks.

You're gonna know that you've been loved when Lobo gets thru lovin' you. (!)

Meanwhile, ONJ recycles "Let Me Be There" for "If You Love Me Let Me Know" at #39. Same songwriters, I've always assumed.

Sometimes I think it's a shame that Gordo didn't have more big hits

Thy VHM be done, Sister Janet Mead.  I really think AL should do a '70s "Jesus Rock" 10@10.

BOS Rev Al, "Let's Get Married".  Mi's well, cause...

Pride Day comes early: VHM "My Girl Bill" -- too cute, perhaps, but still kind of amazing in 1974.

WOS2 Ms Reddy's "Keep On Singin'", easily her worst single. Lazy and sappy.

Boy George is going down. No, seriously: "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me?" drops 3 notches on its way out of the 40 in Casey's May 1983 chart. And "Time (Clock of the Heart)" will, er, pop up later. Meanwhile, H&O are going "One on One" with each other and Robert Ellis Orral is at #33. Whatthehell's goin' on here??

ex-Doobie Patrick Simmons' "So Wrong" is aptly titled. File under "Early '80s Michael McDonald Knockoffs"

WOS1 Kenny Loggins' dreadful "Welcome to Heartlight". Was this from a sndtk? I barely remember it.
