Wow. I will missing two Casey's 80's shows in a row. I don't like 1986 nor 1988.

Which years do you look forward to?

As you know, Casey Kasem's 78th birthday was this week.  Here's a clip from Howard Stern show, using sound bites of Casey on a prank phone call: placing an order for Chinese food (G-rated, 2 min's long): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJ4D1l_Yu1Q&feature=related

Saturday morning '70s for me. Instant BOS "Wildfire", one of the loveliest and most-unfairly maligned songs ever.

Yes!  when I said "Awesome song" the gf said "cheesiest song evah"  and I was all "what?" and she was all "yup."  puh-lease.

another BOSFRA for the Temps and why not give one to Herman Melville Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes.  This Gordon Lightfoot is a little less weighty than some of his other hits, but this lower part of the chart -- as usual -- does not disappoint!

"Wildfire" is so obviously (to my ears) a carefully-honed death metaphor. Edgar Allen Poe woulda been proud. I always thought the Lightfoot deserved better, chart-wise.

BOS2 Alice Cooper's still-extraordinary "Only Women Bleed"

I'll repeat my line from last year: when Lobo says "your hair smells like a Sunday morning" does that mean she smells like the New York Times? Bagels and lox? Wha?

Sunday morning is when we change the bed linens, so i think of dirty laundry!

BOS3 Neil Sedaka's shining hour -- even if he hadn't made explicit in interviews that "The Immigrant" was dedicated to Lennon, it's quite a beautiful lyric. (and more relevant than ever)

and one of the OMGWTFLOLs of the century to "Shaving Cream". An example of the now-dead idea that one radio station can launch a hit -- NYC's WNBC starting playing it as a goofy joke and it snowballed.

Yikes -- that 45 edit of "Young Americans" made my head spin.

Sister's "golden hair surprise" was that her hair wasn't really golden. "Collar doesn't match the cuffs!" as we used to say.

VHM Major Harris' ode to premature ejaculation.

TANC: we just talked about him last week, and here's Keith Hampshire doing one of the filler selections on this Canadian station, a 1973 hit of his called "Big Time Operator", sounding rather like David Clayton-Thomas.

BOS4 Herbie Mann's fabulously jazzy "Hijack", one of those early-disco hits that was much bigger in NY than anywhere else.

VHM Kraftwerk, fahr'n fahr'n fahr'n auf der autobahn; proxy of Gaz for "Bad Time"

"You know how
to make me OWWWW!"

Oh Big Barry you had a way with words, you sexy walrus.

One of my perennial WOS's to Hot Chocolate's horrid "Emma", a young-girl-dies-prematurely epic so misguided it makes Bobby Goldsboro's "Honey" seem like Shakespeare. And WOS2 "Bertha Butt Boogie" -- no question! Those silly "character" voices get old real fast.
