AL has posted her hint/request solicitation already.

Nice that request threads are making a comeback. I really hope that we're not going to get our second 2005 set in 2 weeks; I'm thinking maybe an outer-space themed set for Fri instead?

Well, we've had 1999 and now 1980. Presumably 1977 will appear, with of course Meco. 1982 and 2002 to fill out the week makes sense (with 77 being Friday).
Between you and me and whoever else is paying attention, I don't need to read/hear/see anything regarding Star Wars for the rest of my life.

Well, I could do without all the hype and the commercial tie-ins and Star Wars themed 10@10 weeks, but I *will* need to see the movie.
Eventually, anyway. After Christmas. Unless it gets really awful reviews. But I expect that won't be the case with JJ Abrams at the helm.

Yeah. I get that the movie will be good. Just don't need to be reminded every second.

I feel the same way about Adele. Yeah -- talented. But she's EVERYWHERE, ALL THE TIME.

oy: we begin with the uber-est of uber-LNs. Gary Numan.

Bryan Ferry? "8 Miles High"?

Bryan Ferry? "8 Miles High"?
I'm stunned, I tell you! I had no idea. (I wonder if she really meant to play this one.)
-
Bryan Ferry? "8 Miles High"?
Yes and yes. Safe to say this is a bustout? BOS1 in any case.
ETA: Actually, turns out it's Roxy, from Flesh + Blood. Not a record I know well, obviously.

Han Solo turns Leia on again.

"Laugh it up, fuzzball"

Prince has a dirty mind.

BOS for Roxy. I don't recall ever hearing that before, but I must have listened to that album at least once back in the day, so I'm surprised I don't remember it. Sure made an impression on me this morning.

Ever since yesterday I've been trying to imagine clever segues from movie dialogue to songs from that year. For example there's plenty of times that the Millennium Falcon has mechanical issues, and that could segue into or out of Boz's "Breakdown Dead Ahead" in 1980.
...and it's a shame that Yoda didn't appear in the first movie, because then we could segue from him to Randy Newman's "Short People."
;) ;) ;)

Prince has a dirty mind.
Sounding almost like the earlier Genesis tune with the synth way up in the mix.
-
Mr Palmer looks for clues. BOS2, the Roxy bustout being BOS1.
-
BOS3: Zevon covers Allen Toussaint.
-
Love that segue into Warren Zevon's "Certain Girl".
-
More sparring between Leia and Han > Warren Zevon - A Certain Girl
I want to say we've heard that segue before, but it's pretty clever. And a nice nod to Allen Toussaint to boot.
-
BOS4 Broooooooooce, "Sherry Darling". Rejoicing in 'snipeland

For anyone who isn't of BFMcG's mind, here is what the NYT has to say about yesterday's premier:
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/12/16/business/media/star-wars-the-force-awakens-premiere.html (http://www.nytimes.com/2015/12/16/business/media/star-wars-the-force-awakens-premiere.html)
-
BOS3: Sherry Darling, the song off The River I'd have requested, were there not already a ton of River requests in the bin.

I'm pretty much of the same mind as Rod (nice to see ya popping in, btw, Rod) but I am going to do my best to avoid almost anything in the way of details about the film until I see it. Probably a futile effort, but I'm going to give it a shot.

H&O "Kissing Leia is on Han's List"
-
Ramones, "Baby I Love You" -- BOS5 and a serious rarity if not a bustout.

I didn't know the Ramones were a girl group.
-
That turned out pretty OK.

Joey always said Ronnie Spector was his vocal role model.
ETA: and it's not a bustout; AL's played it several times including a covers set that's been encored several times.

Really? That would be cool.

not to mention the foreign names. Middle America was like, "Cheyenne Chin? Lint Dyed Blue?"
