Fowley died of undisclosed causes, although he was rumored to have been undergoing cancer treatment in recent months.

Amazing guy -- as I've already posted on FB, any guy who worked with The Runaways and Helen Reddy IN THE SAME FUCKING YEAR deserves some kinda props.  Not to mention the rest of his voluminous list of credits.

There's quite a bit of interview footage with him in "The Mayor of Sunset Strip," the documentary about Rodney Bingenheimer. Fowley comes off as a major jerk at the very least, but since he was in his 60s at the time it was shot, it's easy to assume he was worse when he was younger. (Bingenheimer was his own flavor of weird, for that matter.) Worth seeing in any case, if you haven't before.
