I don't know this song, but it's a far sight better than the opener.

I'm pretty sure it's the Paul Collins Beat, and a strong likelihood it's the vinyl as well.

wow, I'm actually BOS-ing MAW, "Be Good Johnny".
BTW, check out Dave's blog for an email about the Drive's 10@10 ("are they copying you?") and Dave's reply.

Be good be good be good be good be good be good be good be good be good be good be good be good Morey!
Big BOS from me, we haven't heard this in over 5 years and i have often wished for it.

Yeah, that is a weird one. The imagery is really strong for me for some reason. I can see the movie in my head. When he says, "but I like you", he tousles the kid's hair. He might run out and hide in his room at that point.
AND BOS for IGY. There was some good stuff in 82 after all.
-
if its 82, its Translator ;)
-
Translator making their fifteenth appearance? That's IM-pos!
-
BOS #2, IGY making its annual appearance, and now Translator, one of the few songs to qualify as a Katrina in '82. But it wins BOS about 1/3 of the time.
-
Translator making their fifteenth appearance? That's IM-pos!
Yeah, but twice in SF theme sets, and once was a dupe. And there have been like 57 sets from '82 in the Db.

"Look what I'm doing with teenage boys!" Funny. Wish I'd watched that show when it was on.
Dang, missed the triple jinx by 35 seconds.

BOS3 Paul Carrack, sure to be a GazWOS.
-
VHM Paul Carrack "I Need You"
-
"I need you like a pool needs a cue" means I need you like I need a better thesaurus.
-
WOS to sub-Squeeze Carrack.
And I'll bet $5 that Dave plays the WKRP closing theme after Tune No. 10.
-
BOS4 Pete.

HM for Pete. Wouldn't be surprised if this were vinyl.
-
What's this 'good to be born in California' tune? Betcha it's vinyl #2 though.
ETA: ahhhh, Pete. Thought it sounded like him.

Good thing Dave didn't play this immediately after the 'teenage boys' line, or I'd think he was trying to make a point.

not quite a jinx, but obviously we're thinking the same thing.

BOS to THE PLAY

"exquisitely bored", not "good to be born" -- a mondegreen to add to the list.

Not that I've been thinking about THAT! :o

Surprisingly unbad Philesis. Not a great song, but at least it isn't overplayed.
-
Phil? Genesis? either way I'm bored, tho' not exquisitely.
-
BOS2 to THE LOOK!

BOS5 ABC!!! Fab. Yoo. Luss.

ABC: very 80's!

sorry, I was just checking to see if this was a bustout -- and it is, not just for the song, but for the band! amazing! Hip Hip Hooray!
-
damn, i thought we were done, but now I've gotta WOS Journey. Sheesh.
-
BOS for "When you open your heart, open the Lancer's". I laughed out loud.
-
What?! "When you open your heart, take out your Lancer" Say what?!!
-
damn, i thought we were done, but now I've gotta WOS Journey. Sheesh.
that's okay, it gave me the chance to vote for ABC twice.

BOS for "When you open your heart, open the Lancer's". I laughed out loud.
"here I am, with open Lancers..."
-
More fun than I expected to have in 82, thanks mainly to IGY, WKRP and Lancer's.

06/10/2008 - Tuesday! A bit of time in...1982!!
1. Flock of Seagulls - Space Age Love Song
2. Paul Collins Beat - On the Highway
3. Men at Work - Be Good Johnny
4. Donald Fagen - IGY (BEST OF SET!!)
5. Translator - Everywhere That I'm Not
6. Paul Carrack - I Need You
7. Pete Townshend - Exquisitely Bored
8. Genesis - You Might Recall
9. ABC - The Look of Love
10. Journey - Open Arms
BONUS TRACK: XTC - Senses Working Overtime
-
WTF is goin' on here? Big Rick signed off about 10 minutes ago, and we're still in commercials...oh wait, there it is. Weird.
-
Not just being a smartass, but I don't recall "You Might Recall" at all--and I liked Genesis in '82. Must have been on that Three Sides Live album they put out that went nowhere, save for Paperlate. Pretty OK '82 set tho--save for the Journey and FOS tunes.
-
damn, i thought we were done, but now I've gotta WOS Journey. Sheesh.
I used to like Journey in the early 80's. When it comes on the radio now, either on KFOG or the Bone, I switch to the other station (once Journey was on at the same time so I checked to see what was on other stations). I hate Journey now. I know Mike hates Phil Collins/Genesis but I still like it.

When Dave played this the first time around, that line "and gravity won't pull you through" struck me as oddly familiar. Then yesterday, en route to work, I was listening to Nina Simone's version of "Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues," and there it was: "gravity fails and negativity won't pull you through." How freaking random for ABC to toss a sideways glance in Dylan's direction in the midst of their pop bombast. Yippie-yi, yippie-yi-YAY-YAY!!

when Dylan sings, they hear violins.
