I'm guessing they're from the Midwest and that this was a big hit there? Barely got played in NY; I remember it mainly from "American Top 40."

I still like it, but it's funny how there's usually a random song that gets repeated between all the sets we listen to.

ETA: This is a much longer mix than the one I have on every 3DN album and comp in my collection.

ETA^2: Dave played a Paul Williams solo single some months ago; anyone know if it's readily available on CD?  I know I can research this, but did any of you ever look for it?

Rod, you once cited this as a (onetime?) all-time fave, din'cha?

The first time I ever heard "Eighteen" was watching it on "MTV Closet Classics" in 1985 or thereabouts.  It was a taped performance from a (German?) TV show called "Beat Club" that had cheesy bluescreen graphics for miles.  Alice was grievously drunk off his ass for this performance, as apparently was the band, which was tres sloppy while Alice meandered into repeating several times, "Drove my CHEVY to the LEVY but the LEVY went DRY," until returning to the song at hand.

The released "Eighteen" proved far less seditious to me, if such a thing can be pictured.

PS: BOS here to "Family Affair," which for years I assumed Larry Graham had sung rather than Sly.
