Well USA Today is less optimistic.  Pancreatic cancer is just about the most fatal & hardest to treat.  I've made jokes about Swayze's acting ability for years, but certainly wouldn't wish this on anyone.  Hope the optimists are right.

Yikes--pancreatic cancer is indeed virulent. I have an old girlfriend whose mom died of it. She was diagnosed around mid-February and she was gone by the end of April. In Swayze's case (and anyone who gets this) I hope they've got it early and are being aggressive about treatment. If not, it's more about making them comfortable.

indeed, quite painful stuff. I dunno if this is getting into "urban myth" territory, but I've always heard that pancreatic cancer is linked to substance abuse (cocaine in particular). I know that the late great NYC radio programmer Frankie Crocker died of it and he was quite the cokehead at one time.
