Our buddy Scott Fisher just posted "Foolish Songs Tomorrow!" but most of his AL wall-posts are meaningless gibberish so... I dunno.
-
Her own post concurs, but from the songs she's giving as examples it sounds more like a novelty song set than one focusing on "fool" songs. F'rinstance:
Let's see, there's Desiderata, anything by the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band, Python, Flight of The Conchords...not to mention hit songs that

That thread nearly made my head explode -- seems like she's aiming for a cross between "Funny Friday" and Dave's Thanksgiving Turkeys. But some Fogheads are just requesting songs with "Fool" in the title. And others are just plain clueless: "I Zimbra" by Talking Heads? Wha? And someone who wasn't listening last week wants "Make a Circuit With Me" ::)
(I requested my longstanding "turkey", "Tarzan Boy")

Ahh...late to AL's request party. I just requested Shaddap You Face. It's a silly, no?

Yep, just the kinda song AL's looking for. Funny how so many on FB didn't get AL's hint and went with the tired ol' "Fool"-in-title songs or other "out-there" requests. Hopefully those were just April Fool's jokes (but I doubt it). See y'all at 10AM, a fun way to end the week.

It's on my '81 wish list, so I'll be much obliged if it shows up.

Would "Macarena" qualify?
-
Would "Macarena" qualify?
I guess one man's turkey is another man's Hit From Hell.
-
In that case she really oughta play "The Curley Shuffle"!
nyuck nyuck
-
Nice start with Hocus Pocus Focus Locus Crocus. BOS for yodeling alone!
-
Hocus Pocus by Focus: YODEL-EH-EEEEEE-UUUUUUUUUU!

Definitely a challenge to differentiate these songs from those other types of sets.
-
BYOS!
-
i just fed the Hocus Pocus gibberish section through Google translator and it comes out "We knocked up the Muppets one drunken night and nine months later Primus was born."
-
Hocus Pocus by Focus: YODEL-EH-EEEEEE-UUUUUUUUUU!
Great riff song. And certainly has silly bits mixed in with the heavy metal.
Accordion!

They're Coming To Take US AWAY!
I can never decide if this is genius or one of the worst records ever made. Or possibly both?

That is the strangest version of "Mah-Na Mah-Na" I've ever heard. And that's saying something.
-
I thought the Flintstones thing was bad, but this trashing of "Mah-Nah-Mah-Nah" gets WOS. Sacrelige, I tells ya!

That's Heaven and Hell you're thinking of. Swedish variety, of course.
-
Yes, fine line between Fool-ish songs and HFH
-
WOS2 "Kung Fu Fighting"; the novelty's long gone from Funky Chinatown.
-
Kung Fu fighting really sends me back.
-
"I may be totally wrong but I'm a fool." that's pretty much how dancing goes sometimes.
an uplifting message overall.
-
BOS, Zappa.
I came in late, cow-orkers being what hey are. Missed Hocus Pocus, but that's okay, I can play it in my head.
WOS, mananananana (the version today or any other version), and Kung Fu Fighting.

BOS to Napoleon! He he, ha ha, ho ho, to the funny farm...errr, to Wondercon! I'm out, have a great weekend!!!
My kids heard the radio ads for Wondercon and asked if they could go, but we've already planned a camping trip to Death Valley. Maybe next year we'll see you there!

Elvis needs boats, Elvis needs boats, Elvis, Elvis, Elvis, Elvis, Elvis, Elvis, Elvis needs boats!
-
wow, probably the only set where "Stonehenge" is mentioned in two different songs
I bet these guys changed their tune, so to speak, and now think that Michael J Fox has a lot of Elvis in him. More than most.
-
Elvis needs boats, Elvis needs boats, Elvis, Elvis, Elvis, Elvis, Elvis, Elvis, Elvis needs boats!
best part of this song, I suppose...

Seconded, I used to hear this & Screaming Blue Messiahs in the same set sometimes on 91X in S.D. back in the day. Good times!
-
"When he's underwater does he get wet,
or does the water get him instead?"
a fine example of TMBG wit.
-
Least-necessary: Mojo and his nutty buddies.
[Johnny to Ed voice]You are WRONG, Sir![/Johnny to Ed voice]
sorry, just heard it way too many times.
VHM TMBG. Are we getting more than 10 today?

Are we getting more than 10 today?
Isn't there a by-law that says any set with Spinal Tap must go to eleven?
Yay for ShaddapaYouFace!

Indeedy. I was crazy busy during most of the set, but I did catch the song. My mom had this on a K-Tel cassette when I was in 4th grade and I remember listening to it over, and over (and OVER) again (press play + rewind simulatneously and voila!). I'm surprised she didn't eject it and toss it out the car window and tell me to freakin' shaddap my face.

Yeah!!! If you go next year, I recommend getting tix ahead of time -- this week Saturday sold out (for the first time) & next weekend the entire weekend will probably sell out. (But probably the weekend of or close to...not months ahead like ComicCon -- not yet, anyway.)
