Not a bad start--love this Blasters tune.

My heart starts doin' a St Vitus dance!
-
And this Roxy tune is hitting the right chords as well--The Main Thing from Avalon. Where's POC?
-
that sexy voice for the absent poc! Tho' I'm sure she's hearing lots of sexy voices in N'awlins.
-
This tune sounds familiar but I'm not placing who it is. Which in the case of 1982, could be good considering the number of Katrinas we could be hearing. Three songs in, and so far no klinkers.
-
hay hay, X T Say.
all the world is football shaped...

OMG!! XTC's Senses Working Overtime!! Don't think it's a first-timer, but I can't remember the last time we heard it.
Mike, looks like it's just you & me checking in for today's set.

I'm here, but working too.
I think this comes up more than you think, though it's not nearly a Katrina. But I don't own the album, and don't know where else I'd have become so familiar with it.
BOS.

Oh I can. (I was on the verge of calling it a Katrina, actually. Certainly the XTC song Dave plays most often, at least as often as "Genls & Majors" or "Mayor of Simpleton")
-
a little Ditty 'bout Sam & Diane, er, Jack & Diane.
did we ever figure out what "Bobbie Brooks" are?
BOS Trio! "Da da da"! Ich leib das gut!

Really? I'd say Making Plans for Nigel would get that honor.

Have to agree. Can anyone recall hearing this in a year-based set tho? My memory of it is mainly as an HFH or Thanksgiving Turkey.
ETA: However, WOS in this set is not necessarily a bad thing. I've been enjoying the non-katrinaness of it quite a bit.

BOS Trio! "Da da da"! Ich leib das gut!
One of those songs that were ruined for me by a TV commercial.

It has definitely been in Turkey sets, but a few appearances in '82 too. Guess I'm alone in giving it some love today.
-
"Uniform" -- we definitely heard this in the last '82 set (it was a breakout then, no?)

Where's Gaz? He met my friend Steve in Seattle, and Steve is half German. His mom has a much younger brother, and Steve's uncle knew the folks in Trio back in the day. When they recorded this (in a barn, I might add), Steve's uncle was like the assistant engineer.

No we've heard it sporadically over the years, I'm pretty sure I made this joke ages ago, that I thouhgt they should redo the song and make it about an archaeologist specializing in ancient Mesopotamia:
"I Love A Man In Cuneiform"

I was here, just didn't hear anything I found interesting.

Oops! I missed the middle of the set due to a phone call, obviously I thought you were talking about "I Love A Man In Uniform".
ha ha joke's on me.
-
VHM Squeeze before I forget.
Anyone else here remember Squeeze's "Squabs on Forty-Fab", a Stars-on-45 send-up in which they did a medley of their hits with a clap-track? I've looked for it over the years. Hard to find.

Gaz rendered speechless! Film at Eleven!

I'd've preferred hearing Gang of Four to the Icehouse tune.
"To have ambition was my ambition..."
