Okay, that's better.

I had heard "I Want You To Want Me" many times and even knew that the LP was called Live At Budakan.  But it was a lot longer before I could figure out why the singer was so painfully over-enunciating when he announced the song title, because of course budakan is in Japan & he had to speak   s l o w l y & c l e a r l y.

listening in my hotel room with my cool noise-reducing Bose headphones cranked up, and this Starship sounds extra good when played LOUD.

But I still think the first 45 seconds of the song they were trying to sound like Triumph.

I want to hear bad disco.  We'll probably get "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy," but I'd much rather have "Kiss in the Dark" or "Copacabana."

Dare I hope for Machine's "There But For the Grace of God Go I"?  Or a Chic album track ("Chic Cheer" would suit me nice)?

I don't agree, but what else is new?

I think the whole point/dividing line of the movie is the second half, when many of the critics freaked out, and just didn't get it.

Dave will not play Barry Manilow.  Not without some kind of previous approval from the Fogheads during the Mornig Show.

Last year (I think) Barry was a guest judge on American Idol & the ep had been discussed during the Morning Show.  I called in after the 9:00 Pop quiz & told Dave, "Hey, this is your chance to play Manilow on the 10@10!" and he told me, "I don't think I could get away with it, not without some warning."

No biggie, eye of the beholder and all that.  I guess since I think the heart of the movie deals with what they find at the end of the river, it seemed appropo to me.

Speaking of "one way or another, I'm gonna get ya" -- and speaking of the unrepentant murder of gay people, thank you Dave for the segue -- this on Cardinal Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict XVI:

"One of the closest collaborators of John Paul II, as head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Cardinal Ratzinger has been the Church's doctrinal watchdog since 1981. He has been described as conservative, and as the current Dean of the College of Cardinals he is widely respected for his uncompromising if ultraconservative principles and his ability to be critical."

Sounds like an even larger step backwards than many of us had anticipated.

I saw the VH-1 behind the music on the Doobies a while back & they apparently had a total Spinal Tap moment with this song.  They were all really disappointed with the album, figured it sucked so bad they might as well just break up, and then there manager tells them, "Hey guys!  You'll never believe this but 'What A Fool Believes' is #1 in Japan!'"

Sanborn was pretty much the go-to guy for session sax players thru the late 70s & early 80s, with Tom Scott getting the sessions Sanborn couldn't take, and Michael Brecker getting Scott's leavings.

I'm gonna nit-pick on this choice, much as I love the song: "Bringin' in a coupla keys" refers to kilos, which is how cocaine is measured in large quantity, right?  Or is bulk-marijuana bundled by the kilo as well?

But let's add Glenn Frey, "Smuggler's Blues," anyway.

But let's add Glenn Frey, "Smuggler's Blues," anyway.

Yes, marijuana comes in kilos too.
