WOS Mr Thorpe

TANC, I was thinking of Billy Thorpe when the Sabbath song came on this morning.

Why, you may ask?

In 78 or 79 I saw Thorpe at a mid-size venue in St. Louis with a buddy, and while there just about everybody signed a petition to ask Sabbath to play St. Louis.  They'd just announced tour dates & were going to skip us over.  I never found out if they came through or not, but for some reason I always remember signing that petition.

It must have worked; I found a Sabbath fan site that lists dates for them at the Checkerdome in both '78 and '80: Sept 16 '78 with Van Halen supporting; and Sept 30 '80 with Blue Oyster Cult supporting. They did not tour in '79 as Ozzy was cashiered from the band early in the year and I imagine they spent the following year regrouping with Ronnie James Dio on vocals.
Let's get right to it.
