Hour 2 begins with "Mickey"

BOS3 BJ's fab "Pressure". one-two-three-four!

WOS3 "Athena", one of my least-fave Who singles -- I know most folks hate "Squeeze Box" but this is far worse IMHO. "She's a bomb" indeed.

always a BOS for JJ's "Steppin' Out", LN tho' it is.  But WOSes to CSN's "Southern Cross" and REO's "Sweet Time".

uber-BOS5 Sylvia, "Nobody".

eeek: WOS6 Survivor.

WOS7: Rush, of course.

WOS8: this Kenny Loggins/Steve Perry atrocity. Good lord.

Surprised VHM: Glenn Frey, at his least annoying on "The One You Love"; VHM the Goat at her leat goaty on "Gypsy"

BOS6 Ms Branigan.

Awwww: BOS7 Neil D's "Heartlight". I'll. Be. Right. Heeeeere.

Crock o'Siegals are in Iran. Iran, so far away.

BOS8 Mr Browne, "Somebody's Baby'; WOS9 ONJ's dreadful "Heart Attack".

Listening to '72 on CKWS and I'll catch '74 tonite on Magic 98.  instant LN: "All the Young Dudes". Produced by David Bowie and "you'll be hearing more about him" says Casey.

Albert Hammond checks the weather; Joe Cocker checks the clock; America venture a highway.

WOS1 Grand Funk Railroad's little-heard "Rock'N'Roll Soul" -- I'd completely forgotten this made the Top 40. And with good reason.

BOS1 Mr Croce's "Operator",  a textbook lesson in story-song structure.

Best rarity so far: The Band's live Marvin Gaye cover "Don't Do It" BOS2.

The Corneliuses brothered and then sister rose. VHM "Don't Evah be Lonely"

VHM Hot Butter's cheeze-tastic "Popcorn". They GOTS to have a mutha fo' me!

BOS3 Rev Al's "You Oughta Be With Me".

uber-BOS4 Cashman & West's wonderful "American City Suite" -- doot-dooda-doo-doo.  Relatively long version too. And stunningly appropriate given the week's events.

VHM Sam Neely, no relation to Ted, with the Kristofferson-esque "Lovin' You Just Crossed My Mind"

Also appropriate: "Elected", which I'm sure Renee will play on Tues.

Hour 2: Harold Melvin feat Teddy. Followed by the great "Convention '72". BOS5. "Oh, SHADES of excitement!"

VHM Donny O; BOS6 Nilsson's "Space Man"

uber-BOS7 the 5-D's fab "If I Could Reach You" -- Miss McCoo, ah LOVES you!

And you too, Ms Reddy -- not a novice any longer. BOS8 "I Am Woman"

catching the '74 chart tonite -- BOS1 Prelude's lovely a capella "After the Gold Rush"

BOS2 Art Garfunkel's underrated and underplayed cover of Tim Moore's "Second Avenue".

BOS3 Al Green, sha-la-la'ing; BOS4 Gino Vanelli, shakin' behind like-a dyn-o-mite!

VHM the Hues Corp's "Rockin' Soul", one of the great soundalike follow-up hits.

OMFG: BOS5 the Hudson Bros (feat Kate's dad), "So You Are a Star".

BOS6 Marvin's fabulous "Distant Lover".

VHM ABBA, "Honey Honey"; BOS7 Kiki Dyke Dee.

Day-um! the Spinner's beautiful "Love Don't Love Nobody" gets BOS8.

Neil D works on his Longfellow, har har. BOS9 the Osmonds at their finest with "Love Me For a Reason"

Hour 1 of 1980 -- not terrribly interesting, tho' John's "Starting Over" debuted.

Hour 2 looks promising.VHM Roger Daltrey's under-heard "Without Your Love". Ditto the Stones, engaging in some necro.

BOS1 ONJ/ELO "Xanadu"; BOS2 Stacey Lattisaw "Let Me Be Your Angel"

WOS Supertramp's live version of "Dreamer", one of the most unnecessary singles in chart history.

BOS3 Boz's gorgeous "Look What You've Done to Me"

Miss Ross is "Coming Out" -- she "Never Knew Love Like This Before"; no wonder she's "Upside Down"

Steve Miller swings; Frampton cover Stevie, whitely.

BOS1 Leo Sayer's forgotten "Thunder in My Heart"; BOS2 here Dolly comes again, sounding like a lost Petula Clark/Tony Hatch collab.

uber-BOS3 the Carpenters covering Klaatu, splendidly.

VHMs LTD, ED&JFC, and JT.  Ronnie McDowell... notsoverramuch.

VHM Paul Davis goin' cray-cray, as Paul Simon slides a-way-way. Seals & Crofts get they share.

she did it, she did it, oo-bop she did it -- BOS4 Mr Carmen feat real Beach Boys.

oops: CKRU plays Linda R's "Its So Easy", which Casey will play in about 20 mins.

Hour 2: KC keeps it common-law, as Styx sails away.

BOS5 Mr Manilow's delightful, underappreciated "Daybreak".  One more time!

BOS6 Peter Brown, gettin' funky witchoo.

"that pitch was like a song... it 'blue bayou'"

BOS7 Rita Coolidge's lovely cover of "We're All Alone"

HE: "how deep is your love?"
SHE: "oh, about 7-1/2 inches, give or take a few millimeters."

'83 Hour one begins with a BOS to Manhattan Transfer's forgotten "Spice of Life" which sounds like a Rod Temperton compo that MJ and/or George Benson turned down.

VHM Michael Stanley Band with the Springsteenian "My Town".

WOS1 ONJ's "Twist of Fate"; BOS2 and proxy of Gaz, JoBoxers fab "Just Got Lucky"

WOS2 Asia; WOS3 Loverboy.  Damn these '80s sets can be sooo predictable.

BOS3 Human League's underappreciated "Mirror Man". He's a people fan!

This week, That '70s Casey will again offer just one "regular" option to affiliates; apparently this will be the norm thru the end of the year as so many stations switch to all-Xmas during Nov/Dec. We're getting Nov 17th 1979, tho' none of the stations I usually listen to will carry the 4-hour version, sadly. We will get to hear EJ's Victim of Love", Kermit doing "Rainbow Connection",  and Barry Manilow covering Ian Hunter, however.

http://www.charismusicgroup.com/Cue%20Sheets/11-17-79.pdf

And Casey's '80s is from Nov 17th 1984

Bummer: CKRU and CKWS have gone All-XMAS -- first time they've done that. CKRU is runnung a Casey Kasem Xmas special in lieu of the 1979 chart.  I'm hunting for an alternative.

ETA: my fallback, WJER isn't running Casey either -- they're committed to local college football.

ETA2: WQMA (the backup to my backup) usually starts at 11am Pacific but the started at 10 -- so I missed Kermit and Elton.

1984 Hour 1 (thanks, Magic 98): She spells it R-E-B-B-I-E but pronounces it "REE-bee". Oh those wacky Jacksons. BOS1 the unfairly forgotten "Centipede".

VHM Peter Wolf "I Need You Tonite". WOS1 John Waite's forgotten-with-good-reason "Tears"

REO's lesser hits -- the ones that aren't ballads. generally -- are actually bearable. VHM "I Do'wanna Know".

eek: cheezily dreadful, but proxy of Gaz for Sam Harris's "Sugar Don't Bite" -- "you know I'm a bleeder"? What?

Who wears these shoes? Why YOU do, Elton!

Dan Hartman's *other* 1984 hit, "We Are the Young" ain't great, ain't awful.

WOS2 Tommy Shaw, "Girls With Guns"

Another Jackson, another BOS(2): Jermaine with "Do What You Do"

Hour 2: Julian Lennon sits on a pebble.

WOS3 .38 Special, "Teacher Teacher" (NOT the Rockpile song); WOS4 Sammy Hagar the horrible.

Isn't this the 2nd time in a month we've heard Kenny Rogers' "Thru the Years" as an LDD?

"It Ain't Enough" sez Corey Hart. I'd say it's plenty.
