BOS3: Gasoline Alley, when Rod was Rod the Mod, not yet Rod the sellout. He had a helluva couple of years between, say 1970 and 72.

Solo releases were Gasoline Alley, Every Picture Tells a Story and Never a Dull Moment, and Faces released A Nod is as Good as a Wink... and Long Player. In two years.

Indeed. By 70 pop songs were definitey getting longer--it's those damn 67 sets that can be done in 32 minutes or less.  :wink:  (Like that's a problem...)


Actually, did this set crack 40 minutes? It was done at 10:39 by my clock, but I didn't notice what time it started.

Well it ends badly, y'know. And Dave prefers his gay songs to be either upbeat or angry, not depressing.

So... I was in the car for the whole set. A perfectly entertaining set, how could 1970 NOT be? But pretty much standard-issue Morey, down to Bobby Bloom's oh-what-a-beautiful-coda.  Dave's "How cool was THAT? ... not very, cause we do it all the time" made me laugh out loud.

BOS "Wake Up Sunshine", which flashed me back to early '70s prog-FM, when every morning jock would start his show with that song (or "Good Day Sunshine" or "Good Morning Good Morning") at least once a week. Best Mondegreen of Set: "Little Sir John had nut brown balls". I still don't know what the actual line is.

It also occurred to me that "War" would've made a helluva follow-up to "Ball of Confusion" for the Tempts had Mr Starr not beaten them to the punch. I believe a Temptations version of "War" exists, no?

Apparently there was some clamor from the public for Motown to release the Tempts' version of "War" as a single, but neither the label nor the band wanted a more "countercultural" reputation at that point.

Yeah, good idea. Geoff was pretty good about keeping up with that for awhile, but quite understandably, his attentions are elsewhere these days.

Yeah, been tough.  I was practically in tears today, talking to the senior counselor about a girl I'm having trouble with.  This job is real draining.  Why the hell would anyone want to do this AND get attacked by the Governator is beyond me.
