Carrabune queen -- that's what it always sounds like he's saying.
"she's simply...awesome"

"she's simply...awesome"
this song is full of mondies. "now our hearts stampede as one" or "now our hearts, they beat as one," which is so grammatically annoying.

Tina's Disco Inferno! that's when my spark got hot!

I'm actually imagining Catherine Zeta-Jones, Cartman, and the "Men on Film" guy having this conversation. Boosts the entertainment level 150%.

"screw Catherine Zeta-Jones... I'M goin' home!"
-
"if you wanna be free, you know, all you got to do is say so"
as a kid, i remember thinking anyone would be crazy to say "so" to a man with a voice as sweet as his.

so since it's just Cartman, CZJ and Men-on-Film Guy (Blaine?) -- what's the deal with Daryl Hall? A friend of mine once saw him in a Columbus Ave (NYC) boutique -- she said he didn't walk in so much as he "pranced".
-
an H*&O cover of "Rock Steady" comin up. Now I'm afraid.
-
OHMIGAWD! ghetto heaven!!!
-
Greg promises to play Al Wilson's "The Snake"! Woo Hoo!
-
My sentiments exactly! More great modulations after each refrain!
This is *wildly* popular in the Boston area, I have no idea why. Wasn't even that big a hit the first time 'round.

DH acknowledged several years ago having had homosexual experiences as a teenager, but the implication was that it was just a phase.

Snakes -- Ireland -- Boston.
Makes sense to me.
-
OK I'm running out to get lunch -- I don't wanna miss H&O doing "Rock Steady". Some songs shouldn't be messed with, so I'm not optimistic. But I bet their take on "I Can Dream About You" is divine.
I always thought they should cover Style Council's "Long Hot Summer"
Doodydoody doodidibop!

I wish it was still on every day... it was just as fab back then. But it certainly makes Friday special -- especially since i'm sharing it with you & Gaz [Mike chokes up]. " I Loooove You Guys".

hopefully none.
"i'll be good to you" from back on the block! that wacky quincy jones...

Hey, any of you guys know who played the wah-wah guitar part on this? Man, dude was smokin'!!
(And whatever happened to that style of guitar playing? It's kinda dated, I guess, but it rules!

i'm trying to block eighties rap lyrics from my head. i'm certain the real roxanne or mc lyte must have used the combo...

File it away for a My 3 Songs...
That "Too Good 2 B 4Gotten" by the Chi-Lites was sweet -- a UK hit that didn't do much here.
-
OMG! Rev Al, "Full of Fire". His lesser-heard stuff is sooo fine. "Let's Get Married" is another.

OK here's H&O doing "Rock Steady". Is someone else singing with them?
What it is!

not very impressed by this cover. but then, who could do aretha? even aretha can't do aretha!

i don't think so...
you're a long way from north star, darryl. but still soooo cooooool.
-
way to go, june! "that's a cheap one!"
-
I googled looking for info on the H&O album, and one website said that "I Can Dream About You" was originally written with them in mind. They also do "Watch See is Watcha Get" -- tho' it can't be as good as RuPaul's version :D

well it obviously didn't bother me that much - i listened to the entire song. the music was ok. something about her voice, though...i recently heard a version of a duet with her an al jarreau (hands!) doing a version of kenny loggins' (with michael jackson backing) "who's right, who's wrong?" not too shabby.
-
you're a long way from north star, darryl.
So, he's an avid skiier, then?
-
oh, and double-yay for alexander o'neal and phyllis hyman (to come)...

Lou Rawls, "The Wind Beneath My Wings"???
OMGWTFLOL
-
dude, greg is off the hook. i haven't heard lou rawls' version of 'wind beneath my wings' in well over fifteen years....
-
OMG! Lou Rawls' version of "Wind Beneath My Wings" -- I've never heard this. A lot less sappy than Bette's, much as I love her.
-

"don't laugh, it ain't funny"
this song is part of my "welcome to texas" memory set. my mom bought a mercury cougar when arrived in austin. the dealer threw in one of those "thanks for buying a ford!" compilation cassettes to showcase the superfine stereo system ( we were upgrading from an 8-track). the compilation included this lou tune along with b.j. thomas, eddie rabbit, lots of other gems...

interesting slogan on SmoothFM:
"New music that won't give you a headache"
And to think we chuckle at that clip of the pre-rock KFOG... "Your favorite songs -- played beautifully"
