Got it! '76--cue the bicentennial Pepsi ad!
-
Hoping for 70s.
you got it. I dig rockin' around with Dave.
-
Holy mother of god, you've got to give americans a $10 billion tax cut.
Just kidding. GFord into Genesis, Dance on a Volcano. When they were still prog.
ETA: This song is an exercise in weird time signatures--7/8, 11/8, lord know what else.
-
YAY 76. Frampton?
-
you should be dancing (on a volcano)!
-
BOS BGs
DISCO!!!!
I'm dancin! Yeah!
-
Alicat, you should be dancin' ...right about now.
-
YAY 76. Frampton?
Let's hope not :)

-
YAY 76. Frampton?
Could be. In the meantime, how 'bout the Bros Gibb? Whatchadoininyabed?
-
BOS Genesis. I saw them in 82 (yeah, well after their prog era), but they opened w this song, one of my fave concert experiences ever...!

you know me so well.

Sounding mighty good. Before disco lost its luster...
-
Whatchadoininyabed?
it's "back" not "bed", but if you're addressing Gaz, "bed" is probably dead-on.
-
BOS Genesis. I saw them in 82 (yeah, well after their prog era), but they opened w this song, one of my fave concert experiences ever...!
I saw 'em then, too and even tho their albums had gone pop, that was the best live show I ever saw them do. The last time they played the entire Supper's Ready, which was worth the price of admission right there. They did three nights at the Greek here--where'd you see 'em, Tink?

disco didn't lose it's luster, it just morphed into New Wave. ;) VHM Gary Wright, just 'cause it's "Love is Alive" rather than "Dreamweaver".

BOS, Gary Wright. Unless some Frampton comes around. 8)
-
I'm glad to hear that Gary Wright's love is ay-live. He did this at the All-Starr Band concert last summer. Sounded good!
-
Here's Gary Wright "Love Is Alive" on the Midnight Special in '76:

I saw them in Rochester, and yes they did Supper's Ready... although I wasn't that familiar w that one yet. (Foxtrot's one of my favorites, now..)
-
BOS Match Game -- one of the best clips from that show ever.
-
"Good Company" has been quite the Katrina lately, no?
-

What a classic show -- I never realized how out there it was at the time. Guess I was too young...

That does look like a really bad wig.
-
"Good Company" has been quite the Katrina lately, no?
Yes, I was thinking the same thing.
-
Moonlight always Feels Right to me. Such a seventies sound.
Me too. I'll bet Raquel at KFOG would like this one too, given what Dave played for her this morning -- Suavecito by Malo, if I remember correctly.
-
And speaking of Gaz, he's missing the full version of Stevie's "As", after complaining about the Casey Kasem edit this wknd. BOS3.
-
Here's a little cheeze to go with that whine--Starbuck, Moonlight Feels Right.
Was hoping to find a vid of them on Midnight Special playing this song, but no go. So have to settle for a still instead.
-

Dang it! Co-worker came to my cube & I missed Starbuck.

BOS for Stevie, though it always bothers me that it's not called "Always".

What exactly did she do to become famous? She was one of those celebs that I only knew from being on game shows (see also: Jaye P. Morgan).

she was married to Jack Klugman! Which raises some serious questions (and obvious Odd Couple jokes).

Arrived in time to learn about the day when 8 x 8 x 8 = 4. BOS!!

Superb timing as ever. How'd the all-nighter go?
-
it's gonna be "Morey faves" this week, obviously: BOS4 Phoebe Snow, "No Regrets"
-
The Phoebe-ster's got some vibrato happening there, eh?
-

too bad they won't let him play what he wants during the morning show, too!
(of course, maybe he likes The Killers and Jzn Mrz...)
-
BOS5 Leon & Mary
(http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/ciu/8b/e6/a8821363ada0a11bba460110._AA240_.L.jpg)
damn, Mary was Fiiiiiiine!

Great set today -- I love the variety.
-
BOS5 Leon & Mary
damn, Mary was Fiiiiiiine!
This one is so good, it coulda been a sitcom theme song!
-
Perhaps a little subtext from DM on No Regrets? In any case, a definite BOS from me.
Ditto for Leon & Mary Russell, Rainbow In Your Eyes.

No kidding. And this is something of a rarity, only twice before in the Db.
-
BOS whatever Taxi Driver. VHM Bernard Herrman's fab score.

TANC: I believe Leon played at the Independent there in SF last night.
-

Yes, Brett married Jack Klugman. Jaye P. Morgan was a singer in the 50's
-
BOS # whatever Miss D's Love Hangover
-
I'll only BOS Ms Ross if it's the looooooooooooooooong version. (and sadly it ain't)
This was the final nail in the coffin of the 5th Dimension's career -- their (almost identical) version charted the same week, but Diana had Motown promotional muscle behind her.

I'd hope he'd indulge himself as much as he wants this week. Whenever else is he going to get the chance?
I think he has a little latitude to pick some of his own music on the morning show, but of course he's gotta hit the stuff that's in heavy rotation on the playlist, too. I'm betting he won't miss that part of the job so much.
-

I think he plays tonight, too
actually, I don't think he is.... sorry:

I'll be wishing I was there tomorrow and Wednesday night. That Mercury Rev show should be pretty great. And they're not doing the PNW at all. :(

Yes, I might go to that one.... I think I found out about Mercury Rev from KUSF. And when i discovered that David Fridmann was in the group, and that he produced a lot of key Flaming Lips stuff, AND that they're based in Fredonia, NY, I decided I would become a fan.

surely you remember this one: the question was "on their wedding night, the new bride found her husband under the covers with ___________." Betty said "his best man".

surely you remember this one: the question was "on their wedding night, the new bride found her husband onder the covers with ___________." Betty said "his best man".
And Annalisa grabs that very clip for today's Bonus track quiz.
ETA: Yeesh, did we on the stream get aced out of the Bonus track? There was a really long-ass break (like 10 minutes, or so it seemed), then it went right into Sting, and now the Who's Join Together. (Although I guess it just could be that none of the callers have a clue, so she's coaching someone to say "his best man."
ETA2: It's now 11:48 and still no bonus track, so I'm guessing we got ads instead. But I'm thinking I haven't heard Annalisa at all since she gave the question 40 minutes ago, so I wonder if she fell ill or something. Or maybe today's the KFOG holiday lunch, so the station is on autopilot? (Now that I've typed that she's probably going to be on after this song and make a liar of me.)

So any guesses what years we'll be going to on Wednesday and Thursday? I'd guess (or rather, I'm hoping for) '71 and '67. In a perfect world anyway.
