Their only hit. As you may know, they were much-hyped at the time as the first all-woman rock band.   In '74 they did a fabulous cover of "I've Had It" that sadly missed the Top 40.

Ditto.  But since Mike sez it's Fanny I looked them up.  Gaz, this has to go on our lists of great songs to peak at #40!

They only got back into the top 40 one more time at #29 with a song called "Butter Boy" which I'm also sure I've never heard.  By that time Suzi Quattro's sister Patti was playing bass for them.

Thanks, I forgot about "Butter Boy". So they had 2 hits.  Wonder if there's a best-of available.

Title: Alice Cooper, "Eighteen'
Post by: ggould on May 27, 2005, 08:26:58 AM
I wasn't much older than 18 when this came out.  Classic.

On another note, I saw them open for someone at Fillmore West, and it was a totally different show.  Instead of psychedelic lights, they used dramatic lighting at front of stage, often casting big silhoutettes on back wall.

I was gonna say something about "let's not split hairs" but that's a lot of hairs to split!   But "First all-woman band on a major label" is what I shoulda said...

Yes it is.  A BOS contender, along with this Sonny & Cher schtick (which then sequed AWKWARDLY into "Imagine").

Thanks for the recap; I guess this puts our macaroons in the #9 slot.  Any prediction for the closer?  (I'll say Lee Michaels, "Do You Know What I Mean.")

The Stampeders also had a hit that peaked at #40 if I'm not mistaken. But it was no "Charity Ball".

VHM in memory of Dave, my best friend, best man, coworker, and guitarist, who really liked this, for some reason.

A toast to his memory.  Clearly he was a good man if he was a friend of yours.

P.S.  Did I miscount or did we get Tune #11?

FREQUENTLY played right after 10@10.  But always nice to hear -- amM I the only one that thinks this is very Moody Blues -ish? at least that line about the cold of a winter's day.

[Geoff holding fingers up like a crucifix, at the mention of comparing the Moody Blues to this great incarnation of the Mac!]
