The Only Katrina in Town.  all together now: "backing vox by Daryl Hall".

I just called in my vote for Darryl.  I also asked Dave if, since he only played 9 songs last time he went to 1984, maybe today he could play 11 songs to make up for it.  He said "I'll see what I can do", but I don't think he took it with the humor I intended.

Four Mondays ago we got:

1. Tones on Tail - Go! (BEST OF SET!!)
2. Bowie - Blue Jean
3. U2 - Pride (In the Name of Love)
4. Yes - Leave it
5. Kenny Loggins - Footloose
6. Style Council - You're the Best Thing (BEST OF SET!!)
7. Nena - 99 Luft Balloons
8. Cars - You Might Think
9. Wang Chung - Dance Hall Days
10. ooops...forgot one - must be Monday...

BONUS TRACK: Thomas Dolby - Hyperactive
"Music is the Earth, People are the Flowers, and I am the Hose."

WOS for John Waite.  Always hated this one.  KPIG for 3 minutes...Ooh, they're playing Blood, Sweat and Tears' "I Love You More than You'll Ever Know".  Sweet.

Yeesh, "Missing You" -- proxy of cairo, but I didn't need to hear this one.

Mark, a Katrina analysis of this set, please when you've got time-- surely the Cars and Cockburn and Elvis C qualify?
You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round

Well, this is our 20th set in the last 25 months, so to be a real Katrina it'd need 6+ appearances.

Elvis & Darryl have now shown up 5 times (but thrice in the past 6 months makes it seem worse) and surprisingly we haven't heard "Magic" in an '84 set for over two years.  In the same time frame it's 2 for 2 on June 21 "Summer's Here" sets of course.

I'll score the rest of the setlist when it gets posted, but Psych Furs was a semi-breakout, first time in over 2 years & only shows up in a 2002 set in my Db.

ETA:
5/22/2006 - Monday....Today it's "News Free" in 1984!!!

1.  Joe Jackson - Be My Number Two -3
2.  Psychedelic Furs - Heaven -1
3.  Bruce Cockburn - Lovers in a Dangerous Time -2
4.  Cars - Magic -2
5.  Corey Hart - Sunglasses at Night -2
6.  Scandal - The Warrior -3
7.  Elvis Costello - The Only Flame in Town -5
8.  U2 - Pride (In the Name of Love) -6
9.  John Waite - Missing You -4
10.  Aztec Camera - Oblivious -3

BONUS TRACK:  Yes - Owner of Lonely Heart

Yikes!  Female Foghead answered the question about Bananarama "Cruel Sumer" & could have chosen it, Genereal Public "Tenderness", Yes "Owner of a Lonely Heart", Smiths "What Difference Does It Make?" or...

"I guess we'll go with Yes," she says.

and I guess we all switched channels at the same moment.

What do you think, Linda?

- Go ahead. They're waiting for you.
- I think that...

You see?
Linda agrees with me.
