switched over to SmoothFM in time for "Blame it on the Boogie"... so THAT'S Michael's excuse.

OMG! George Michael, "A Different Corner" -- haven't heard this in ages, not even on CG I don't think.

Let's carry this thread over to tomorrow - I had too much work to do to listen to anything this afternoon. :( Many in the company are down in Florida at a sales meeting, leaving me in charge of too much for my liking. (I declined to go to said meeting -- too much to do here, and besides, I gots no love for Florida.)

They're soliciting song suggestions for Charles & Camilla's wedding. One wag said they should get Billy Paul to do "Me and Mrs Bowles". LOL!

Mr Manilow, "Wknd in NE". Randy Edelman wasn't pleased (supposedly) with what Clive Davis did to his song, ma.
But he took the residuals anyway.

(1) Why bitch about an artist of Manilow's caliber covering your song and turning it into a Top Ten hit? (Barry was a hit-making machine at the time; RE should have been honored)
(2) What could he have *wanted* the song to sound like?

Well, Randy was a "serious" singer-songwriter. The original is apparently much more downbeat. Davis gave it a new arrangement and (I believe) a different, hookier chorus.
