10at10 Night at "Dead Certain", Fri. Oct 28th

"Dead Certain" is a stage thriller my friend Diana's been starring in for the last few weeks. It got a great review in The SF Bay Times.

They started at The Next Stage but now they've moved to the Actor's Theater in Union Square. VERY accessible by BART (just get off at Powell Street & head for The Square).

The producer has offered us (10at10ers) $10 tickets (normally $25) for Friday, October 28th. There are 2 shows 8pm & 10pm. We can probably go to either one- but I'm guessing most folks would prefer the 8pm show.

The play itself is about a crippled ex-dancer who hires an actor to help her write a play. The actor arrives at her flat. Things seem normal enough- but as her "play" progresses the actor learns there's more going on than meets the eye. And he might be in big, big trouble!

Sort of a "Sleuth" meets "Misery" meets "whoa.. this is kinda weird".

Clever dialogue! Awesome acting (from both my pal Diana & her co-star)! Gunfire! Music by The Doors!

Any takers?! It's a great chance to see a first-class show in a first-class venue at a low, low price.

Hey Beej, check this out.  I emailed my buddy Carl to see if he wanted to go & this is what I got back:

I'd love to except that I am in Shanghai assistant
directing a feature film. This opportunity came out of
the blue - I got a call on Saturday evening from a
producer I worked for on a screenplay a couple of
years ago who remembered that I speak fluent mandarin,
and he asked me if I wanted to replace the first AD
who had just dropped out of the production. Of course
I said yes and he said "be on a plane on Tuesday" so I
spent the next 2 days madly rushing around getting
packed, doing visa stuff, etc. and now here I am.

Carl

If I were taking Muni from the Avenues, does the 38 leave me nearby? If I do this on Friday, I might have to give up Sunday music in the Park. Dilemma.

So who's going tomorrow & when/where should we meet?  I am totally up for dinner first, and Beej has suggested Lefty O'Doul's for that.

Can we get a consensus?

The 38 leaves you very close, just get off at Union Square (unless they're drastically rerouted since I lived there).

Wish I could be there!

I assume by "avenues" you mean "the Richmond"?

You could take the 38 and walk up from O'Farrell, but if you can take the 2 Clement or the 4 Sutter, those go right past Union Square on Post Street.
Let's get right to it.

I am still planning on going.  Haven't worked out the logistics yet, so I'm unsure on dinner.

Ali & I spoke this morning, and unless her plans changed since then she's not gonna make it.
