The leader of Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks and original member of the Charlatans was 74. No news items have appeared that I can find so far, but his website confirms his passing.

The roll of the dead continues. I guess there are just a lot of musicians in that age group and the actuarial curve is catching up with them. Still, these weekly passings are kind of unsettling. Is this part of the aging process, seeing your heroes and admired artists all fall away?

The leader of Earth, Wind and Fire died at his home in Los Angeles. No cause was announced, but he was known to have been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease a number of years ago.

Just saw a post on FB from someone within the  Tower of Power organization that trumpeter Mic Gillette had passed away.  According to Wikipedia he died today of a heart attack.  RIP.
