yay! Bonnie Pointer's cover of "Heaven Must've Sent You" -- I still have this 45; this (disco) version is on one side, the flip is a note-for-note rendition of the Elgins' original.

Words you'll almo0st never hear me say: WOS Jefferson Starship. "Rock Music" is just ham-handed and ridiculous.

Agreed. You can totally see "We Built This City" lurking in the back of this song.

OH SNAP HE WENT THERE

BOS to little-played ELO, "Shine a Little Light." This is in Xanadu, right?
-
OMGWTF! BOS3 ELO, "Shine a Little Love", their disco-y-est confection and one of the few tracks of theirs that Dave rarely plays.
-
BOS to little-played ELO, "Shine a Little Light." This is in Xanadu, right?
nope, Ms Newton-John's film was a year later.
-

It's on Discovery, another one of the few albums my brother had like the aforementioned London Town.
-
Those sound effects would resurface two years later in Space Invaders.
-
BOS2, "Up the Junction," a former Dave fave from the late '90s that I doubt he's played in the past 2-3 years. One of those rare story-songs that has no chorus whatsoever.
-
I've said this before, I HATED All That Jazz. A gaudy, overwrought, pretentious mess that the Academy (and of course Dave) loved.
BOS3 Squeeze! "Up the Junction". Difford & Tillbrook at their lyric-writing best.
-
BOS All That Jazz montage.

not sure what to call it, but this is not JS to me!
-
"real savage like!"

LOL! That's two movies in one day, Mike. Although I think I liked the clip more than the actual film.

BOS4 the Mighty Zep!
Dave has rebounded nicely from yesterday's Katrinafest.

Agreed on both counts, although I noticed yesterday that no one commented on the pointed segue from the Jerry Falwell clip into the Genesis tune. Dave can at least be counted on for one of those.

Just went to the Gee's Bend quilt exhibit at the deYoung, and his shirt reminds me of this:

BOS3, and I know Mike agrees, "Every 1's a Winner"! Another one Superbooty used to do when the mood struck.

Dude, that is HILARIOUS!

"real savage like!"
I assume you are trying to sound like Uncle Duke, right?
-
BOS5 Hot Choc -- Every 1's a Winner today!
-
and it all comes crumbling down with Rod the Disco Bod.
-

it's just a background voice on Tusk near the end. Kind of like "a short sharp shock."
-

Have any of you ever heard the Revolting Cocks cover of this? Instead of "call my mother," he uses the quarter to "buy a rubber," and instead of "milk & coffee," they're out of K-Y jelly. Good times.
-
BOS4 the Mighty Zep!
That was a bustout, even a Gomer in my book.

The Stewart is, nonetheless, one for the time capsule, totally reflective of a cultural moment (or as Dave would say, "a very important record in its time..."). I've heard it too many times to VHM it, but I'd never WOS it either.

in wiki-style (did anyone see the Colbert show last night?) you thought it was a Gomer?

I know I always say this, but I'm sure he's played it. It's certainly a rarity, tho'. I think there are very few Zep LP tracks that Dave has truly never played.
-
Bonus: Mel Gibson, "Bad Case of Drubbin' Jews."
-
Kind of like "a short sharp shock."
which could be another list: album titles from song lyrics from other artists. michelle shocked lifted pink floyd for hers.
-
Worst of set by far (worst of the past week and half by far): Rod Stewart - Do ya think I'm Sexy? (And to answer you, Rod: NO WAY!)

I think I'm with Mike this time--I'm pretty sure it's been played, just not within the parameters of Mark's DB.
Was glad to see that Squeeze got BOS--that's what I'd have voted for if I hadn't been in the car, trying to navigate 101 and the GGB.
-
1. Bonnie Pointer - Heaven Must Have Sent You
2. Cars - Let's Go
3. Jefferson Starship - Rock Music
4. Police - Walking on the Moon
5. Fleetwood Mac - Tusk
6. ELO - Shine a Little Love
7. Squeeze - Up the Junction (BEST OF SET!!)
8. Led Zeppelin - Hot Dog
9. Hot Chocolate - Everyone's a Winner
10. Rod Stewart - Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?
BONUS TRACK: Robert Palmer - Bad Case of Loving You
Guess nobody liked my Mel Gibson joke...
-
BOS to little-played ELO, "Shine a Little Light." This is in Xanadu, right?
It's on Discovery
or as one wag called it at the time: "Disco? VERY!"

One of this week's Village Voice reviews has a rather rude ELO dig. He mentioned how the band wanted their "Rockaria!" to be read as a *rock* *aria*, but he instead chose to read it as "rock that has been violently shat out."
-

it was noticed!

Just catching up -- BOS to Mike's Mel joke.
Or "Hot Dog".
WOS, Rod. Always.
